Day 4: US Olympic Training Center

After lunch we headed over to the US Olympic Training Center in downtown Colorado Springs. It is one of only 3 official training centers in the U.S. where athletes can come and live and train.

There weren't many athletes around, so our tour was mainly of facilities. This is the main location for men's gymnastics. One of the interesting notes was to see how tiny the floor exercise mat actually is. It seems like they gymnasts run forever, but it's really only the size of 1/2 a basketball court.

There was a large workout facility where a few guys were lifting. Kevin loved the big tractor tires that were against the back wall. I'm sure they would give someone a good workout.

This is also the main training center for swimming, volleyball, shooting, and wrestling.

One of the wrestling coaches stopped to talk to us and told us a little bit about these two men and another young 15-year old who was there. He was the up-and-coming younger brother of the gold medalist from 2010 (Henry Cedujo).

There was a hall of fame section which had some bronze statues and a couple of bobsleds.

Kevin thinks the sled below was the one that won the gold medal in Vancouver. Camden thought it was a cool ride.
