Kindergarten Picture

We did not order an individual picture of Camden from school.  We had so many good "5 year old" ones.  I do think it's important to get a class picture every year.

Front Row:  Marley, Gabby, Maddie, Rylie, Camden, Braydon.
Back Row:  Mrs. Sharon Barr, Conner, Darryl, Max, Tyreka, Logan, Caylum

This was taken early in the fall and the class actually changed a lot.  Tyreka and Maddie have left and Luke has enrolled.  That leaves 11 students - 7 boys and 4 girls.

Camden has spent the last 2 years with lots of boys (her preschool had 15 boys and 7 girls).  I will blame that for the reason she finds bodily functions so humorous right now.

Triathalon

The Waveland PTO had their big fundraiser a few weeks ago - an educational triathalon.  It was the first time they tried this particular activity and it was very successful.  The kids were asked to get sponsors for their participation in the event. Letters were sent to a list of individuals the parents provided.  Local businesses also sponsored prizes for the kids who raised money.

The day of the event, which included reading, writing letters to soldiers, and an obstacle course in PE, the kids were encouraged to wear camo.  It gave us an excuse to get Camden some new RealTree gear.

Last year's big fundraiser made just a few hundred dollars.  This year's made close to $7000!  Camden was top fundraiser in kindergarten and got a monetary prize.  In addition, every kid that provided a sponsor list was put in a drawing for the other prizes.  Every kid got about 4 items.  Camden also won a jump rope, a coupon for a free Frosty from Wendy's, a high-end pair of pink camo sunglasses (provided by a local optometrist), and 5 passes to Buccaneer Bay (a small waterpark at a hotel in Lafayette).

I get asked almost daily if we can go!

THCM with Halianna

Camden and Hali had a sleepover on Friday night with Grandma.  I picked them both up on Saturday morning and we went to our favorite museum for some hands-on fun.

You can tell by the smile on her face in this one that she absolutely LOVED this place.

Camden wasn't too pleased that I made her stop and take a picture.

On our way home we stopped at an apple orchard.  Both the girls enjoyed playing with the farm dogs and sipping apple cider while I picked the variety of apples I wanted.  What a fun day!

Gymnastics!

Camden had her last gymnastics lesson last week.  She was an absolute pill during the time (hopefully because she was showing off for me), but the teacher is very patient.  She is the youngest in the class (per usual) and reports she would like to do the next 10-week session which starts in January.

The End

Two weekends ago our soccer season came to an end.  It was a very cold and windy day!  Camden (and each of our kiddos) loved the participation trophy she received.

She actually played really hard for the final game.  Well...until she got hit in the noggin by her teammate's mouth.  Big.red.bump.  She relaxed for a few quarters then tried again.  GaGa and Grandpa had stopped by in time to see her final quarter and she played hard for them!

* NOTE:  this in no ways changes our mind that she will NOT play soccer next season.  Too much commitment for a girl who only sorta likes it.

Stuck

While in her bathtub this weekend, Camden calls out.

"Help!"

"Help!"

Apparantly, her jumbo bucket is not jumbo enough to fit a 5 year old's backside.  We all giggled (and it did take a little bit of heft to break the suction that was keeping her in).

Tent

While cleaning under her bed this past weekend, I propped her mattress up.  Camden crawled in the space and declared it her new tent.  She even slept there one night while her "watchcat" stood guard.  (This looks light because of the flash, but it actually was the middle-of-the-night dark).

Selfie II

Love this selfie of my and my baby on a hayride at Hobson's farm.  She always brings a smile to my face!

All But...

Forgot to post pictures of the finished kitchen.  YEA!

Love the seamless sink.  You just wipe everything from the counter straight in.

We still don't have everything back in to cabinets or in the spot we want them.  We are also going to do some tile work behind the stove and walls beside it.  It's another small project that doesn't take priority since the kitchen can function without it (and it's hunting season!).

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new kitchen!

Hog Roast

One of the little churches in town (Papaw is actually attends there) has a hog roast every fall around Halloween.  They have a clothing give-away as part of it (you can see the clothes on the basketball court), plus a concert of some sort.

We always go up to the town park for it.  I didn't get a good picture of the "roast", but there was a good turnout and lots of kids for Camden to play with on the small playground.  It's so fun to see her interact with them since she knows (and is known) them from school.

Trick or Treat

Kevin took his little pink unicorn trick or treating on Friday night.  Because of severe weather on Halloween, our town moved the action back one night.  Per tradition, the first two stops:  Gaga & Grandpa and Papaw.

I bought "pre-glittered" paper to make her horn and didn't think about the sticky side of the contact paper.  In the course of getting ready for the night, the inside of her horn stuck together and she had a flattened horn.  She didn't care, but I wish I had caught the potential problem and stuffed it.

They hit every house in town that had a porch light on!  She had TONS of candy.  They ran into several friends from school along the way.

When they got to Paxton's house, Camden wanted him to come for the rest of the evening.  They headed back to our house where I was handing out candy.

I like that job, but I also sprang my foot (and probably hairline-fractured a bone in it), so a night of walking was not going to be fun.  Initial x-rays at Urgent Care last week were a non-break and I was sent home with 8-10 days in a "boot".  However, it had been 3 weeks since the twist and I was still in significant pain when I walked in regular shoes.  At my primary doctor visit on Friday, he pinpointed a bone that by it's tenderness indicated a possible hairline.  Since I was already wearing a boot he suggested 3-4 more weeks (ugh) in it to finish the healing before we spend more money on an MRI/casting/etc.  The boot really helps, but extended walking leads quickly to soreness.

Kevin was exhausted when he got home.  They really walked a long distance, plus he was pulling the wagon with various numbers of children in it throughout the evening.  But, they both really loved their time together - nothing like Daddy-daughter time on such a fun night !
