Golf Photo Shoot

In between games of Birdie Golf we were sitting on the porch and I took a few close-up pictures of Camden.  She then started striking different poses and I kept shooting.  Wish we had been out in the sun...and wish I had noticed how dirty her face was...but we did manage to capture a few adorable (and silly) keepers.

Birdie Golf

Camden has been begging to try out her new yard game - Birdie Golf (or as she sometimes remembers it "Bridge Golf").  A freshly mowed yard and a sunny afternoon finally allowed us to get outside and try it out.

Just look at her form!  It's a natural golf swing...Grandpa/Daddy might have to get her out sooner than later on a real course with a real driver.

Even a little chipper into the "hole."

And when she did "whiff" the ball, she took the right amount of grass to imagine that if it were a ball on the ground (and not atop a birdie) she probably would have a decent shot.

We all enjoyed it very much and it is a much easier set up than croquet or even ladder ball.  You can also make it a short course or a long course depending on where you determine to tee.  Kevin can't wait to challenge Uncle Ric to a little more competitive game.

Rainy Saturday

Since we didn't have a very "Camden-esqe" weekend last week, we wanted to do something with her this weekend.  And then the forecast was for rain and storms all day!  Plus Kevin and I were planning to go to Indy for part of the weekend.

We asked Camden what she wanted and a quick and resounding, "Bowling!" was screamed.  Perfect answer for a rainy afternoon.

Spring School Pictures

In the fall, school pictures had to be ordered prior to them being taken.  In the past they have always been fantastic...and done by a local photographer.  I didn't realize that with moving to the new school we would have the large school portrait company doing them...and they would be the "typical" picture.  We paid for them and got them back - HORRIBLE!  I didn't even give them out to grandparents.

So when the spring school pictures came out, I didn't order.  In fact I didn't even pay attention to the day so she wasn't dressed in a nice shirt and her hair was not tended too more than normal.  A few days ago a "teaser" pack came home.  They were great!  They really show a cute natural expression of our beautiful first grader.  Of course, I am buying them.  Grandparents (and Aunts) stay tuned for your copy!

Auction

The last two Saturdays have been a bit bittersweet in our little town.  The hardware store that has been in business here for over 100 years closed down and was auctioned off.  The three buildings, the contents of the hardware store and lumber yard, as well as many antiques were sold.  Everything!

We spent a little time there last week, but the stuff we were most interested in went up for auction this weekend.  There was so many items!  It took all day to get through it, but we got a few good bargains.

Camden spent part of the morning at the auction, part at GaGa's.  The afternoon was spent briefly at the auction and a little bit at Papaw's (who was there too, but needed a break and took Camden with him).  Then she was home while I baked a dinner to take to a family friend and back at the auction.  I had to bribe her this last time with being able to play on my phone.  We were down to the last of the stuff inside the store, so she got to sit/stand at the counter.  A few young girls were more than happy to stand near her and watch her play.  They had been there all day too and were probably just as bored.

Camden loved having the girls watch her and enjoyed their company while the auction finished up (well, it was still going, but we had finally gotten through all we were interested in).

It was a long day but we ended up with a new 8' aluminum ladder, an electric skillet, an iron, 4 pairs of overalls (2 for Kevin, 2 for Pop), an outdoor golf game, and a few other miscellaneous items.  Not sure the time invested was completely worth the bargains, but it was fun to be a part of the action.

Michelangelo

GaGa and Grandpa dropped a new critter off at our house on Sunday.  It is a teeny, tiny turtle (shell is slightly bigger than a quarter) they found at the golf course.  It's a miracle he has survived this long (read: the cat hasn't eaten it).  We were talking this morning about letting him go this weekend, but Camden really wants to keep him (of course!).

We are either making a trip to a creek (my vote!) or getting a small aquarium this weekend...and some flies.

Bogey's Family Fun Center

We wanted to do one more fun thing for Camden's spring break.  I took Friday off from work and the three of us headed to Terre Haute.  Bogey's has been here for years, but we have never taken Camden.  It was still a little windy and cold to do much outside stuff (mini-golf, gokarts, trampoline, etc.), but we did have a really fun day inside.

Their playland is such fun.  Camden easily finds a friend to play with, but next time we will bring someone.  She could have played for many hours in this huge structure.

Her red face tells the story of how hard she played!

We also bought a few tokens for the arcade.  The payouts are pretty generous and she/we earned lots of tickets.

Especially when Camden hits the Jackpot on this one - 250 tickets!

She is begging to go back...and it is nice to have another good option for family fun.

Easter Dinner

Dinner on Sunday was at our usual place at the old Sims Elementary School.  Camden had to take her big egg in and show Great Grandma Beasley.

Yes, she is giving her Great Grandma "bunny ears"!

And being goofy with her cousin Zeb.

Before dinner, GaGa led the group in "Pine Trees", a spoof of the song, "Blessed Be the Tie That Binds".  She has sung it to all the kiddos as they grow up.  We then sang the original song leading into prayer and feasting.

Peeps Racers

While Kevin got some sleep and I went to a meeting on Friday morning before our trip, Camden went to GaGa's to help her make some special Peep treats for Easter at Great Grandma's.  We got to take one for each of us to the hotel for a snack.

When we got to southern Illinois for Easter dinner.  Camden and GaGa paraded the Peeps in for all to partake.

(If you look closely, Camden is giving one of the Peeps "bunny ears" for the picture.
