Art Club

This group of 5th graders meets after school once a month.  They do some pretty cool art projects.  This month, a visiting artist was there.  He had taken the old bleachers that were removed from the New Market gym during renovations this summer and turned them into puzzles.  Each kid painted their puzzle in a design of their choice.  I can't wait to see Camden's finished work (once it dries and she can bring it home).

Just Like Aunt Carole

Monday night was band call-out.  She selected 3 instruments that she was interested in.  Then a representative from Paige's Music took her to a table and "tested" her on each of them.  He assessed which one would probably be the best match for her.

She selected the trumpet (first choice going in), trombone, and flute.  Flute was first up.

She never really got the hang of how to blow through the mouthpiece.  Next was the trumpet.

She did really well holding it and got a decent sound out of it.  Next was trombone.

She did better with it.  The mouthpiece is a bit bigger and therefore easier to get a good sound out of it.  The tester thought this could be a good choice for her.

Although she didn't select it, he thought she should try the clarinet.

He thought this was a good option for her as well.  He asked her which one she liked better...which sound did she prefer and which one did she like better.  Her selection...

2019 Spring Carnival

Another great carnival.  Such a fun night for the New Market families.  Kevin got the bug Camden had, so he stayed home.  Thankfully, Sophia's grandmother transported Camden to/from the school so I could stay at school to oversee everything and Kevin could stay home and rest.

It was a great turnout!

Camden was put in jail a couple of times.

She also wanted to help out, so she worked in the cafeteria handling the Jimmy John's sandwiches and chips and later worked at the lollipop tree.

Early on in the evening, I was able to spot the girls and get in the photo booth with them.

It's Friday!

Just got a fresh cut and color last night (yea!), Camden is sick again (boo!), school carnival is tomorrow (yea!), it's dreary outside (boo!).  Sure seems like a Monday.

It's Been a While

We got to spend some time Saturday with Gramma Pat.  It's tax season so she is busy working, but we were happy she had the day off and could hang out with us.  We did a very typical excursion.

We had lunch at Chili's then played Monster Golf.  In between we ran some errands I had for our upcoming school carnival and stopped and got donuts for breakfast from a new bakery in Lafayette called Flour Mill Bakery.

We ended the day with a treat from Pink Walrus and several rounds of the bottle cap game.

Friday Family Night

The three of us headed to Under the Arch for dinner.  Camden and Kevin both got the buffet, which features catfish fillets, shrimp, clams, and hushpuppies, plus some yummy sides and a salad bar.  I got the HUGE Arch Burger but could only eat half (after snacking on a few shrimp and hushpuppies from Kevin's plate).

While there we decided to see if GaGa and Grandpa were home and up for a few rounds of Euchre.

Camden enjoyed playing with Buddy.  He was wrestling with her on the bed, but as soon as I got my phone out he stopped and "posed" for a picture.

Camden also discovered that the cats would cuddle up with her if she sat in the whirlpool tub away from Buddy.

It’s What Works

Chicken noodle soup, teddy bear, cartoons, and mom. It’s always the request when you’re not feeling well.

Messages

Camden is on a toaster strudel kick for breakfast.  I like it because I get to write fun messages to her each morning.

Friendly City Games

For some family time, we headed to a local shop in downtown Crawfordsville.  They have new games to purchase and a whole bookshelf of games to try.  We picked and tried out four - Stacking Cats, Angry Sheep, Rock Paper Wizards, and Tapple 10.  Stacking Cats was a dud...impossible to stack.  But we agreed that Angry Sheep had potential, but not something we'd buy.

We enjoyed Rock Paper Wizards.  It had fun hand signals & battles with each other, but found it a bit confusing on some rules.  Our favorite was Tapple 10.  It uses the same basic items for 10 different games.  We only played one of them and we laughed a lot, had good even competition between the three of us, and it was easily our favorite.

You could definitely tell the store was mostly enjoyed by the typical fantasy game geeks, but it was a nice change of place...plus it was free!

Winter Swim

I always forget that the Crawfordsville pool is a great indoor option in the winter.  Such a fun way to spend a cold Saturday afternoon with friends.
