Waveland Strong Easter

We planned to do the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Lake Waveland, but the weather was going to be cold and dreary.  So we moved it to the fire station and had a carnival.  Such a smart move!

We had so much fun.  There were about 12 games with lots of eggs with "golden tickets" in them for prizes from the prize table.  Plus bags of candy for every kid who arrived.

The Easter Bunny arrived via fire truck, per usual.  It was at this moment, as I watched a few kids jump up and down excitedly, that I remembered how Camden always did that....Oh...Camden!  I had taken her to GaGa's while I prepped and had forgotten to pick her up.  I was only 20 minutes later than I told her and, thankfully, she agreed she was too big to care about missing E.B's entrance.

It was great to see him make his way around to each game and play against some kids.

He even raced Camden in the jellybean jumper game.

But shortly after, he took his place in this beautiful setting for pictures.  Of course, I was too busy to make sure Camden got a pic.

I did see her play some of the games.

And Gramma Pat was able to come and help too.  I promised I would invite her down next time to just be with us and not help at some event I was running!

Camden won a few smaller prizes, but also got one of the large ones.  She selected a fluffy pink bunny.

Unicorn Frappacino

We went to Starbucks on Sunday in an attempt to get Camden the elusive Unicorn Frappacino.  It was only out for 5 days and this was the last day.

Of course, they were sold out!  She had to get her "usual" - Strawberries & Cream Frappacino.  Not that she minded.

Golf Practice

Sunday afternoon was gorgeous and perfect weather to break in her new clubs.  She and Kevin took some practice balls to the backyard and gave it a go.

She started with her driver and got the hang pretty quickly.  She will be part of the Jr. PGA this spring and will work with a coach to learn some techniques and compete in a few scrambles.

I think they've got some pretty natural talent to work with.

She took time to practice with irons on her middle game.  Look at that ball!  It took off straight, solid, and with a good height to fly for a while.

At one point I laughed at something she did or said.  She turned to me and said, "Mom, don't laugh. I am trying to take this serious!"  Okay!

She did get pretty excited at some of her shots.

Kevin showed her how her bag is designed so that she can carry her clubs like a backpack.

Some of her first attempts.  I think it's pretty impressive for her first go.

Easter Morning

We had planned to go to southern Illinois as usual, but Kevin came home from work and was not feeling well.  When he came in the house, he did see that, because of the rain, the Easter Bunny had left some eggs for Camden to find in our family room.

And, yes, there was a big gift....her own set of golf clubs.  She going to be hitting the greens soon.

Afternoon Egg Hunt

On Saturday afternoon we headed to Roachdale for another community hunt put on by a local church in this neighboring small town.  It included a small carnival before and after the hunt.  The wind was too strong for the bounce house and they ran out of drinks by the time the hunt started.  Thankfully, there was a great playground since it was held at the elementary school.

There was a cool monster truck and a train ride.

Then it was time...

Before we left, we made sure to get a selfie with the man of the hour.
