House Bound

We've been housebound with our little kiddo over the weekend.  Thankfully, GaGa has helped out several days (or parts of days) so that we can do some errands (and go to work).  Camden is responding well to the treatment for the RSV, although she's still a little "croupy" and has vomitted a fair bit as the mucus is breaking up.   Two of her best buddies from daycare and church are also sick with RSV and both had to be lifelined to hospitals in Indy with complications.  Both are fine, but we are so thankful we caught Camden's early and it's stayed in check (but can't you see the sickness in her eyes?).

She is having quite a hard time with this round of antibiotics, however.  She has pretty consistent diarrhea and we are back to wearing pull-ups and even diapers since she doesn't always have enough time to make it to the potty.  We're eating lots of yogurt and drinking plenty of fluids, so she's doing the best she can.

We are watching lots of TV and I think I've seen all three Toy Story movies at least 3 times over the weekend.  Thankfully I rented Finding Nemo on Thursday and have a little break from Buzz and Woody.  We occassionally break away to play with playdough, play catch, put a puzzle together or do something else in her room, but we've taken it very easy and lazy.  Kevin and I finally broke out a puzzle of our own so at least we had something more stimulating to keep us entertained.  Of course, baby girl had to help out...

2.5

Today Camden is officially two and a half years old.  We celebrated by being sick and spending the afternoon in the doctor's office!

She is on a fourth round of antibiotics for an ear infection that won't go away.  After this 10 days, we will have to meet with an ENT about possibly getting tubes.

She also has RSV (a respiratory cold) that has to be treated with a nebulizer.  Camden was terrified for the first dose and almost had me in tears with her pleas to make it stop and turn off the noise.  But we got through it and she was fine by the end...we'll have to see what happens for round two in the morning!

Of Course We Don't Sleep In Our Bed

In our house, Camden thinks her bed is for playing.  Shortly after she goes to her room we will hear some grunts and some bumps and we know she is at it again...pushing the mattress off the bedspring.  Well duh...it makes a perfect slide!

Not only does she get to play, but often several of her animals or a baby doll get a turn too.  This little daredevil (with some bruises and scraps to show for it) is rarely stopped...although she has discovered TV and movies, so she'll happily watch Dora or The Wonder Pets or her beloved "Buzz Lightyear and Woody."

New Purse

GaGa made Camden a new purse.  It is the perfect size, plus it has a little pocket on the back.  Camden has been carrying it around the house since she got it.

In the pocket was a pouch of "jellies" or fruit snacks that she always eats when visiting GaGa.

In the inside, Grandpa gave her $1, because, "every girl needs to have a little bit of money in her purse."

She's all ready to go shopping!

Saturday with Chuck (E. Cheese)

I'm really ready for winter to be over so we have outdoor play options.  For now we have to drive an hour to get to any indoor spots.  Today it was Chuck E. Cheese's.

We shared some salad and made cheesy faces for pictures.

Then it was non-stop go, go, go for the next hour or so.  There were buttons to push and slides to go down.  I only bought a few tokens because she was content to just watch most things.  She did ride a few rides, but loved running around the most.

Chuck E. came out a few times and danced with everyone.  Our table was right next to the action and Camden got into it.

She even got to give the big guy a hug!

Still a Fan

While our season may be over....

Camden is still a fan...

Or maybe it's because a free balloon is just too much fun!

Regardless...YEA COLTS!

Snow Day

We have a nice layer of snow everywhere, so Kevin brought out the 4-wheeler.  Surprisingly, Camden immediately wanted to ride.  They spun around the yard for several minutes, then Kevin decided to also get out the sled.  I didn't get any pictures (battery went dead after these five), but Camden and I enjoyed a few trips around the house being pulled by the Honda.  Daddy went slow (my request!), but there was still lots of Whoo Hoos from both of us.

She needed some sunglasses to protect her eyes/face from the flying snow.  So much fun!!!  Camden was talking about it again on the way to daycare this morning.  She loved it.

New Year's Tradition

Papaw Haile always makes a New Year's Day meal of corned beef, cabbage, and black-eyed peas.  Kevin had to work overtime on that day, so we actually had the meal on the 2nd.  Does that mean all the "luck" from those items are nullified?  No wealth, no good health, no ????  I don't even know what they are...just know it's tradition.

Camden liked it all...especially the black eyed peas and the rolls.

Papaw also got a new puppy.  Camden wanted to touch it so badly, but was a little hesitant.  All evening she kept going back in and talking to "Duke," but didn't really want him out of his cage.

Except for one quick pet and a kiss or two.

New Bedroom

We updated Camden's bedroom this past week.  It was finally time to get out of the crib altogether.  I found a fun comforter at Target and coordinated the room around it.  Camden immediately fell in love with her bed.  She walked in the room and said, "Wow-wee" over and over.  She climbed up on the bed and rolled around, jumped up and down, and giggled.  "My bed?...Wow-wee."

I didn't want to keep her old white changing table/dresser, but weren't sure what our other options were.  It was so huge, but we also had two pieces of an entertainment center that we didn't want to depart with, but really didn't have room for either.  I decided to make the most of it and use containers to make them her dresser.  The one set holds her toys in clear plastic tubs.

The other holds her clothes in colorful boxes that match her comforter.  We weren't sure how many we would need when we purchased them, so at the time of the photo, we were one short.  I have since bought another polka dot one and the shelf looks great.

She has lots of floor space and room to spread out and play with her toys.

And sure enough, within 5 minutes (literally) of being shown her room, every toy was off the shelf, out of the containers, and dumped on the floor.

Life with a toddler!  At least pick-up is a little easier...just throw everything back in the tubs.

The best part of it all...she LOVES being in her room.  In the past, she always wanted one of us in the room with her.  While she still prefers that, she now goes in by herself and spends some time there.  Could be her age, too, but it's a nice little progress forward.  She also has been willing to sleep in her bed.  On more than one occassion she has requested to go to her room for her nap or to sleep at night.  One morning I found her back on the couch, so she didn't stay in her bed the whole night, but at least half the time she sleeps in her bed.  HUGE step forward.

As you can see, she has also moved every stuffed animal to her bed.  They are no longer on the big shelf, but sleep in her bed, along with most of her books.  I still need to get her pictures up on the walls, but all in all, the new bedroom is a smashing success.

Gifts from Camden

On one of our advent days we made ornaments to give to each of the grandparents.  Camden rolled the green clay out, used the cookie cutter to make a tree, rolled the clay into small balls, and added them to the Christmas tree.  I think all the recipients liked their gift as much as Camden liked making and giving them.
