Trunk or Treat

Trick or Treating is on Halloween night in Waveland, but Browns Valley church was having a "trunk or treat" on Saturday.  I quickly threw Camden's costume together, using clear tape.  It really turned out great, but I will need to do some basting/sewing for it to hold up on Thursday.

Since the octopus has been her favorite the past two years and I loved it being made from a sweatshirt (she stays warm and we have a sweatshirt the rest of the year), I went with that requirement again.  I searched for a few options and let her choose.  A pink unicorn was the winner!

The trunk or treat event is really pretty lame.  There were only 5 cars giving out candy, but they were very generous and she got a bag full of candy.  This year they also added decorate a pumpkin, nail art, and a short maze.

Camden loved running/racing through the maze the best.

Although she also thought the Candy Land theme trunk was pretty cool.

Glitter Glam

Every day she came home "sad" because she didn't get to go to the book fair.  I kept reminder her that I was going on Friday and we would buy a book and a pointer then.  She was all concerned about the "make-up" book.

I was confused about her wanting a make-up book in the first place.  She really hasn't been exposed to make-up (I don't wear it).  When I got to the fair on Friday, the only thing I found was a book called "Glitter Glam".  You use stencils, special glue, and glitter to put temporary art on your body.

We tried it out on Saturday.

She was very pleased with her art.  We were in the middle of it when GaGa stopped by to drop something off.  Camden "glitter glam"-ed her up!

Breakfast & Books

Grandparents got to enjoy breakfast with their grandkiddos.  Camden led the way and showed them how to pick up their tray.

The kids now have cards with their lunch money on it, so Camden had to swipe hers to pay for her lunch (the grandparents ate free).

There were a LOT of grandparents that came.  Thankfully the Kindergarteners ate first, but the cafeteria was still filling up.  So we led the charge to the overflow tables in the Art room.

I was at school for this because I was helping at the Book Fair.  It had been going on all week, but they intentionally opened it up on Friday, so Grandparents ("softies" for their grandkids) could purchase items.

Camden got several books and a pointer (like Mrs. Barr).  Turns out mom is the softie too.  At least it's books!

One of our local professional photographers was there and took pictures.  I snapped a few in between.

Grandparent's Day

Friday was Grandparent's Day at Waveland.  Camden was so excited to have all her local grandparents there to celebrate.

She made two nice gifts to give them.

She still absolutely loves her teacher, Mrs. Barr and all her friends.  There are now 13 in her class with a new boy who moved to the area last week.

She went to preschool with Braydon (and her wears those boots every day - a true farm boy).

Caylum is one of her favorite friends.

Gabby is very shy; Maddie is her seat mate now.

Another good friend, Tyreka.

Aunts and Uncles Galore!

Most of GaGa's brothers and sisters came for a visit this weekend, along with her mom.  We had a great time visiting with our extended family.

Preslee is obsessed with a camera when it's around.  Not to have her picture taken, but to take pictures.  Here is her selfie.

It is always good to see Grandma Beasley (Great-Grandma to Camden).  I think you can see the resemblence in this picture...

The ever-serious Hoyt.

Oh, how I wish this one hadn't been blurry.  The second one isn't horrible, but this first one is so sweet!

Paleontologist

Her favorite activity station was excavating dinosaur fossils.  She worked that hammer hard!

She could have done this for hours.

And the expressions on her face were priceless.  She meant business!

But her best expression came when she looked up and saw some of her favorite people!

GaGa and Grandpa arrived to do a "lap" at the various stations.

She was so glad her grandparents came!

Children's Museum of Waveland?

Actually, the Children's Museum of Indianapolis brought the show on the road to our school on Wednesday night.  It was sponsored by our PTO and the them was "Puzzling Dinos".  There were about 10 tables of hands-on activities, plus the PTO had chili and potato soup (plus other concessions) for sale in the cafeteria.

Camden and Kevin made quick work of a hot dog and soup then headed in for some dino fun while I assisted in the kitchen.

Camden mixed up plaster and poured in into molds to make dinosaur teeth.  She made three of them throughout the evening.

She was very adept at putting together the various puzzles.  Kevin helped her see the spine and use it to piece everything in order.

She also did some excavating of chocolate chips from cookies with a toothpick.

She tried to copy a gridded picture, but it came out looking like most of her people do...big round circle with nice features.
