Vacation 2017, Day 5 & 6

The next two days of vacation were spent relaxing at home, eating out, and simply enjoying down time.

Since sushi is Camden's new obsession, we decided to try Sushi Don's in Lafayette. We have tried going a couple of other times, but have not been able to make it work.  This day was their 1/2 off rolls night and so we sampled several new items.  It was good and I would recommend it to others, but not my favorite.

We did not like the yellow sweet potato used in the yami roll (one of Camden's favorites) as much as the traditional; although I did like the triangle shape.

My favorite was the Dragon Ball.

We also made a trip out to Perillo's, our favorite pizza place located in North Salem.  I have never been disappointed in any food I have had here.  And leftovers were a perfect brunch the next morning.

Vacation 2017, Day 3 & 4

After a big day at Holiday World, we decided to have a low-key day in the French Lick area.  We saw lots of advertisements for a nearby (40 minutes) Amish community with an Amish buffet dinner.  We decided to head that direction for lunch and some activity.  Boy, what a disappointment.  There were 2 stores (that had nothing to do with Amish) and a flea market going on.  Then the food was just average.  Definitely the one thing we would not do again or ever recommend.

Trying to salvage something out of the drive we took a detour off the path on the way back to the hotel to see a nearby dam.   It was actually pretty cool and our little outdoor girl loved being by the water.  She and Kevin also got out at the dam and walked a bit across the structure.  They could see fish trying to swim up the dam and other interesting features.

A storm was rolling in so we headed back to French Lick.  We went back to the laser tag place and had another round of play.  Another family was there so there was a group of 8 this time.  Once again, we had a blast...and once again, this mama came out on top!  We also play 9 holes of indoor glow golf, then headed back to the hotel for swimming and a relaxing night.

The next morning we checked out and headed home.  We decided we wanted to do something else and headed toward Indy.  We would be going near Nashville and remembered the Farm House & Tea Room we ate at when we stayed at Brown County State Park last year.  Again, we took a small detour off the direct route and stopped at this little gem.  Such a good lunch!

Camden had roasted red pepper soup and mac & cheese.  I had a club sandwich and potato salad. Kevin had a shrimp salad.  All of that sounds pretty ordinary, but they take everything up a step and it is yummy!  We will make this a regular stop when we are in this area of the state.

We were making our way to Whiteland for an afternoon at Rascals Fun Zone.  What a place!  You could pay per activity or buy a 1, 2, or 3 hour unlimited play.  It was not crowded so they worker told us we would probably get 8-10 activities done in one hour.  That was plenty!  There were 2 outdoor go-kart tracks (Camden was too small to drive), 2 miniature golf courses, and bumper boats.

At some point, they realized they could come to the edge and squirt me!

Entrance to mini-golf.

Inside were mini go-karts for Camden, a large indoor go-kart track (they rode together), and bumper/spinning cars.

I loved the bumper/spin cars.

There was also bowling (extra fee) and a ton of games.  We had a coupon for a good deal on the tokens and played for a long time and earned lots of tickets for Camden to redeem for prizes.

Looks like Vacation 2017 was our adrenaline junkie tour.  And this was only Wednesday...we had the rest of the week to hang out together.  LOVE!

Vacation 2017, Day 2

Holiday World!  All of us were so excited to go here.  Kevin and I took Austin and ReeRee when they were young teens, and know it is the PERFECT family park.  Free drinks, free sunscreen, shaded/hilly paths, and wonderful rides.

At the entrance, you can have your child measured so you know what rides they can/cannot ride.  They get a wristband with their height written on it.  Camden measured 54 1/4" so she was cleared to ride every ride in the park (except some of the kiddie rides she was too tall for).

Kevin is in the back row trying to catch up to bump her.

The two of them went on the water rapids.  I had tennis shoes on and it was too early in the day for me to get them wet.

They got SOAKED!

I couldn't believe that Camden wanted to ride the big wooden roller coaster.  Kevin volunteered to go with her...it jerks my neck too much.

After the amusement rides, we spent the afternoon in Splashin' Safari, a wonderful waterpark.  We didn't take our phones for obvious reasons, so no photos.  We spent most of our time in the two wave pools.  They felt so good on this hot day.

Then we headed out, stopping for a few rides, spending a few moments with the Big Guy, and getting a souvenir.

We all want to go back soon.  It can really be a day trip for us so maybe even this summer!

Vacation 2017, Day 1

For our vacation, we took a short trip to southern Indiana.  Our first day was spent driving down, stopping in Shoals for ice cream recommended by Aunt Carole, and playing at different activities in French Lick.

Our first activity was laser tag.  Camden had never been before and fell in love.  This was a new place, so the equipment was latest and greatest.  It was just the three of us, but we had such fun.  (Don't forget to rub it in that this Mama smoked her two competitors and was the winner).

We still had another hour before check-in so we headed next to an indoor go-kart track.  Camden was able to race on the main track.  Again, we were the only ones ready for this run, so she could go as slow or fast as she wanted.  First she had to watch a safety video.

Then she got suited up in her helmet and loaded into her car.

Kevin was so proud that she improved her times with each lap.  I think next time we will have to fight her to slow down!
