Tuesday - Hollywood Studio Attractions & Rides

Hollywood Studios does not have as many rides, although even some of their "shows" involve sitting in a car that moves you along through the story.  But one of my all-time favorite areas of this park is the Honey I Shrunk The Kids play area.  It's meant to replicate the scenes from that 80's movie where the kids are shrunk and must navigate the backyard.  Their toys and the nature/bugs they encounter seem gigantic.

We enjoyed Toy Story Mania which was a moving arcade game where you shoot lasers from your car at objects in about 10 scenes throughout the ride.  Your score is tallied shown at the end of the ride.

The best show we saw was "A Frozen Sing-a-long".  Most of it was a retelling of the movie and a combination of live actors and scenes from the movie.  The audience was encouraged to sing-a-long with the songs scenes.  When they announced that part at the beginning, I looked at Camden thinking she would be excited to sing as loud as she liked and she glared back at me and firmly stated, "Don't even THINK about it!"

When Elsa finally came out for the grand finale and "directed" the lighting to show her powerful ice-making ability and then real snowflakes fell, Camden was enthralled.

But our favorite two rides were the fast/thrill ones - Rock and Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror.  The coaster was a sling-shot one where you were rocketed to 60 miles per hour and then do two roll over loops and one corkscrew.  Camden loved it so much she whimpered and cried when it was over.  One of the Disney workers saw her and thought she was scared or didn't like it.  When I said she was so sad it was over, he said, "You wanna go again now?"  We, of course, said yes and he took us behind the scenes through the VIP entrance and back to the front of the line where we immediately got on the next ride.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is a free fall.  I usually hate these rides, but decided to try it because the other two were.  This dropped suddenly, then jerked you back up, then dropped, and jerked up, then dropped a final time.  We were uncontrollably laughing by they time we got to the bottom.

Camden was sitting between us and when the first drop happened, she grabbed both our our arms as quick as she could.  Kevin asked, "Are you scared?" and she replied, "No, just wanted to give you a hug."

Two videos showing our two rides.  In the first one, you can see her grab our arms.

Our night ended with the Fantasmic! show.  This is a pyrotechnics, laser light, and dancing water show retelling the Fantasia movie.  Thanks to the package we did with our lunch, we had great middle section, center row seats.
