Scrimmage

This past Saturday, Camden had her first basketball scrimmage.  They divided the 16 girls into 4 teams of 4 and played half-court 3-on-3.  Camden took a few minutes to connect with what she was doing, but when she did, she played well.

Warming up with a lap around the Fieldhouse.

Playing defense.

I think she had 3 shot attempts but none went in. The hoops are lowered so the girls actually do have a chance to make it which keeps them encouraged.  Score isn't kept, but there were several baskets made.

Back on defense.

Two weeks ago when practices started, she couldn't dribble the ball.  Now she is fairly good (it still gets away from her some) and she can walk and dribble at the same time (huge step!).  I am so pleased with how this short little session has improved her skills and pushed her ability to listen to a coach, stay involved in a game, and put in good effort.

She still was ready to go at half-time, but she stuck with it and is learning and improving with each practice.  This Saturday is the first "game".

Go Lady Mounties!
