Build-A-Bear...Or Unicorn

An unplanned trip to Indianapolis last weekend to just do something as a family landed us at Castleton Square Mall.  As we entered, I remembered they had a Build-a-Bear Workshop store and knew that Camden has been heard saying that she "always wanted to go" there.  I knew when we passed the store that we would be entering.

They had decently priced bears and puppies that we told Camden she could do and then pick some outfits/accessories, but she is suddenly into My Little Pony and she saw one and had to have it.  It was more expensive so we told her she would not be able to buy any other items.  Deal!

The store is set up in stations that walk you through personalizing your pick.  First stop was the heart station.  She choose a small fabric heart, placed it on the computer screen and then picked characteristics of her pony.  She chose artistic, sporty, smart, and happy.

Next you could add audio, but it was extra $ so we didn't do that station.  We headed to station 3 which was the stuffing.  The store clerk put the pony on the machine and Camden pushed the foot pedal to get the stuffing flowing.  While it filled he asked her lots of questions about herself and about her pony.

She got to decide if it would be floppy and lay on it's belly or firm so it could stand on it's own.  She chose the latter and then gave it to her to get her approval on how full it was.  She squeezed it and approved.

Finally, he had her place the heart inside the pony before he closed up the opening.

Once it was closed, we headed to the bath station to "wash" the pony.

And, being a spoiled daughter, we ended up letting her pick one cheap accessory and she chose a crown.  Daddy helped put it on.

In the end, we didn't like how the crown fit and didn't end up purchasing it.  Finally we headed to the last station before purchasing and registered the pony and selected a name for the birth certificate.  She agreed to name her Mystery, but has ended up calling it by the "official" name the purple unicorn pony goes by in the cartoon...I think it's like Twilight Sparkle.

When we checked out, we received the birth certificate and a nice carrying case house.  She proudly walked the rest of the mall carrying her new friend.

Post script:  When we walked into our house that evening, Camden said "Welcome home.  This is your new home" and took Mystery to each room to show her around.
