The Fourth - Indianapolis

Our celebration of the Fourth was not over.  After lunch at Chick-Fil-A and a short shopping stop at Target, we left Lafayette for Indianapolis.  This gave Camden time for a nap before our evening stretch of activities.  We headed to the Canal Walk first.

We thought there were to be some family friendly activities, but, unfortunately, they were few and far between and we mostly walked several miles.  It was a beautiful day and a beautiful setting so we didn't mind, too much.

That is until we finally made it around the canal and headed back to the restaurant we wanted to try (the only one within walking distance of that end of the canal) to find it was having a special $30 buffet celebration.  It looked fantastic, but not diet (or budget) friendly.  We were so exhausted, but managed to walk the 1+ miles back to our truck and drive out of downtown to grab dinner.  We feared we were giving up our "ideal" parking spot to view the Indy fireworks; however, when we got back downtown, we found a great parking lot that was free and prime viewing.  People were already tailgating and we had fireworks going off on all sides of us once dusk arrived.

The fireworks off the Regions Bank building were some of the best we've seen.  Having spent 15 summers in Philadelphia, I've been to quite a few good 4th of July celebrations, but this display was really spectacular!
