She's a Hippie

While playing in her room this weekend, Camden got her hair tackle box down and decided to create a new look.  What a goofball!

Career Day

Camden's class is studying their community this week.  On Monday, parents were invited to come share what job they do.  Kevin had the day off, so I took one too; together we shared our jobs.  I talked about what a pharmacists did then told them how I help Purdue students become pharmacist.  Kevin talked about working on the railroad.

He first showed them some of his model CSX trains, then put on each of his pieces of safety gear.  The kids loved it when he passed each thing around for them to hold.

He also had a few different lights that are used.  After the two of us, Ava's dad, a Crawfordsville police officer, spoke.  He talked about bullying and gave them a comic book with "super hero dog" that Camden talked about all evening but she likes to say, "super aero dog".

Pirate Snacks

Strawberries are apparently the snack of choice for pirates when they take a break from sword fighting.

Swim Lessons

Camden is taking another 2 week session of swim lessons.  It only meets 4 times, but we see so much improvement in her skills already.

The first class she took was a parent-child class, but this one is only her.  We sit outside the window and watch.  She LOVES going.  She can hardly contain her excitement from the time she wakes up in the morning until they call them into the door.

There are 5 kids in the class with ages ranging from 3 (Camden) to 9.  After the first few minutes together getting used to the water and playing a few games, the two teachers split up and Camden and a 4-year old boy go with the female teacher.

Camden has no problems doing what the teacher asks and is much more comfortable in the water than the boy.  All those trips to hotels have paid off!

She even is now very comfortable putting her whole head underwater!

At one point the teacher took them over to deeper water and had them float on their back while they sang the ABC's.  After several turns each, the instructor looked up to Kevin and I (watching through the window) and gave the OK signal.  After class she told me that Camden floated by herself.  She went on to say that Camden is doing very good (especially for a 3-year old).  She was teaching them to enter the water from the edge with their hands out in front of them and the instructor said Camden held her arms exactly as she was instructed.  She said very few kids (especially that young) are able to keep their arms extended the way Camden did.  I told her we were probably going to enroll her in the May session and she encouraged us to keep her going since she is showing great natural ability and such intense interest in it.  Our little fish!

Easter Morning

Kevin had to work Easter Sunday morning, so Camden and I went to church by ourselves.  But not before she discovered the Easter Bunny had filled her bucket with a few treasures.  (These "just out of bed hair" pictures are just for you, Aunt Carole).

She got a chocolate bunny...

...a ball toss game, tinkerbell flip-flops...

...and a rainbow peeps sucker (she asks for it everytime we see it in the store...she doesn't even like them).

Easter Egg Hunt #3

Papaw came over on Saturday evening and brought some eggs.  He hid them around the house and Camden had yet another hunt.  With so many egg hunts, it's a good thing there wasn't much candy in any of them...but I cleared most of it out by making cookies with miscellaneous chopped chocolates in them.  YUM!

Easter Egg Hunt #2

The 3-5 year old hunt was a good time for Camden.  The crowds were large, but very tolerable and there were a good amount of eggs for everyone.

Relaxing after all her game playing and egg hunting.  She's too cool!

She waited patiently in line to hop aboard the Lafayette Fire Department Engine.

In one of her eggs, she had a $5 gift certificate to Teacher's Delight.  We stopped there since we were in town.  While picking out some stickers, she made a new friend and played with a bunny rabbit.  Great end to a long, but fun day.

Easter Carnival

We missed the Crawfordsville Egg Hunt when we went to Nashville last weekend, so we decided to head to Lafayette on Saturday for the Ivy Tech Dental Assistant Program's Carnival and Egg Hunt.  Camden's hunt wasn't for another hour, so we bought some tickets and played some games.

Camden's favorite option was the bouncy obstacle course (she did it 4 times) and the bounce house (once).

Easter Egg Hunt #1

Technically, it's #2 since she also had one at school on Thursday.  When we got home from Terre Haute, she woke up from a car nap and wanted to have her hunt.  While Kevin fixed the grill, I hid the eggs around the yard and Camden had her hunt.

Kevin has successfully indoctrinated her because I tried to get her to choose the white bucket with colorful Easter eggs on it, but she wanted the pink "camonel" bucket.  And don't try to tell her it's pronounced, "camoflauge."  She insists otherwise.
