Chicago

We had tickets to the Shedd Aquarium that we bought last year over spring break that we couldn't use because Camden got sick.  Thankfully they put them on account for us to use at another time.  Additionally, because we have a Carnegie Museum membership with the passport program, we can visit many other museums for free - including the Field Museum.  This was our plan for Thursday.

The fossils at the Field museum are amazing!  We only went to the dinosaur area and the mammals/birds area because their is so much to see, but we also had some scheduled activities at the aquarium.

The large dinosaur, Sue, that famously used to be in the entrance is being relocated to the dinosaur area to make room for a bigger dinosaur.  A window let us look into the work that goes on to move and remount such a large fossil.

Just outside the dinosaur area, we looked over the balcony to a choral presentation that filled the hallways with song.  We also found a virtual reality ride that Camden did.

It was a little chilly and slightly overcast, but we were able to see the Sears Tower (yes I know it's the Willis Tower, but not to most of us).

The Aquarium was beyond busy.  Even the Field Museum people were wondering what was going on.  Thankfully since we had e-tickets we were able to bypass the main entrance and get into the madness fairly quickly.

Petting the starfish was probably one of our favorite things we did.

We grabbed a small lunch to share and decided to brave the windy outdoor patio because the crowds were insane inside.  It was a beautiful view.

Our entrance was to the side, so we didn't see the main tanks.  We headed there after lunch.

We ended our day with a 4-D movie about coastal predators, the wild reef exhibit (sharks & stingrays) and the dolphin show.
