Garden Prep

Camden (and Ginger) helped dad get some of the garden planted.

Yukon Gold potatoes, carrots, onions, and radishes are in.  Maybe corn too.  Red potatoes and the rest are coming as soon as the potential for "frost" is done and no rain expected (should be Tuesday or Wednesday).  Then Kevin has to build his deer fence so we have crops to harvest!

Wicked!

Aunt Carole and I took Gramma Pat and our Aunt Linda to see the Broadway touring production of Wicked! in Indianapolis.  We went to the matinee so that we wouldn't be out late.  It was a spectacular telling of what might have been the back story to the witches in the Wizard of Oz.

The sets were fantastic, but we couldn't get pictures during the musical.   The opening curtain:

I'm ready to go see more!

Gramma Spoils Her

Every time Camden stays with Gramma Pat, she comes home with stories and "tokens."  This weekend they went to a movie, the park/zoo, and the mall to jump on the trampoline thing.  She also had treasures from playing the claw.  I can't keep up with them!

Saturday Sleepover

Camden's friend, Bella, came over on Saturday evening to spend the night.  First on the agenda was time on the trampoline and seeing the chicks.

After dinner we made cookies and played games.  The four of us laughed and laughed while playing Catchphrase.  Bella had some real zingers!  She is one of the quietest girls I know, but when she opens up it, she is hysterical.

The girls later played Pokemon Headbandz.  Camden still knows the characters better than most, but Bella kept up pretty well.

Indianapolis Speedway Field Trip

The fourth graders headed to the Indy 500 Speedway for a field trip.  Thankfully, it fell on a Friday, so Kevin could be a chaperone.  He was assigned four girls!  Actually, the chaperone selection was a lottery type deal (they could only take 4 for each classroom) and since Camden "won," her parent got to come and she got to pick her group.  Her three best friends in her class - Bella, Betty, and Rikki - were selected.

The field trip took them to Gasoline Alley and other behind-the-scenes areas.

They made their way to the "Yard of Bricks" for banner signing and kissing of the bricks.

Then into the pagoda for a lesson on the flags and a look into the announcers booth.
