Parke County 4-H Fair

The Parke County fair is held in Rockville which is just 15 minutes from our house.  This fair is small, but has all the stuff you love about a fair...animals, fair food, and rides.  We took them all in!

The midway was not crowded and the unlimited ride bracelet was reasonable (compared to purchasing individual tickets).  It was so great to just let Camden do everything she wanted over and over again.  She went through this fun house about 20 times (no kidding!).

There were several kiddie to mild adult rides and she took them all in.

We just got down one side of the midway when the rides started shutting down.  What!?!?  There was a parade that night and everything had to shut down.  Most of the people were around the main fairground and away from the midway.  So we sat down on a nice bench between rides and next to the parade route.  It was perfect!  We were the only people in sight and every group was throwing candy.  Thankfully we had a paper bag from one of the booths and our camera case because Camden was tossed an overflowing-plastic-grocery-bag amount of candy.

Then it was back to rides and games.

She decided to try one of the bid rides.  It was my favorite as a kid - the Scrambler.  It started slow and she looked fine, but then it sped up and her face was a little unsure.  When it stopped she looked at Kevin and I with such a dizzy, "Oh my goodness" expression we laughed so hard.  She liked it but was still a little hesitant to try anything else that big and went back to the smaller, calmer rides.

She did get this teacup ride spinning so fast that even the Carnie was a little concerned about her ability to walk afterward.  She is definitely an adventure seeker.

She won a few stuffed animals.

We had such a good night together.  It was a pretty perfect family night out.

Our Baker

Camden also has put her new Easy Bake Oven to work.  She made the chocolate chip cookies that came with it.

Camden got all the extras she needed gathered together (measuring spoons, water, cooking spray, etc.) and helped read the instructions.

I had to assist in getting it all mixed together since it was a teeny amount of dough and then rolling them into teeny-tiny balls was difficult.  But we managed to get a dozen made.

Then into the oven for 9 minutes.

Waiting for the kitchen timer to go off...

Then you have to push the tray through to the cooling side and wait another 5 minutes.

When they were cooled, Camden used the spatula tool again to bring the tray out.

They were perfectly baked and actually pretty tasty.  Dad and I each got to try one, but Camden ate the other 10 for her evening snack.  Believe me they were TINY!

The Party Continues...

Hali and Preslee stayed after the birthday party last Sunday and into the next day.  The three girls spent the night at GaGa's and then came to our house first thing in the morning to play with toys before we headed out for some fun.

Kevin got the Claw working.  BOY!  She loves that thing.  We gotta figure out a way to turn off the carnival music that plays over and over.

She also really wanted to get her bubble machine out and all three girls (plus Tinkerbell) had fun running and chasing and popping in the steady stream.

We decided to forgo a pool day and instead headed to Terre Haute for the Children's Museum.  After lunch and play at Chick Fil-a, we arrived at the museum to discover that it is closed on Mondays!  Oops!  Thankfully Kevin thought about the Bounce Barn that was just a few blocks away and we headed there for the afternoon.  It was a perfect option for the three girls.

Preslee is definitely more daring than her older sister.  She was going full force on even the big slides.

Camden loves them all and has even gotten more daring in how she comes done.  But she took a break to play a game of checkers with her dad.

Plotting her next move...

Hali really preferred the preschool area.  It had much tamer activities.  All the girls spent a good amount of time in this section.

About an hour or so before we left, Presley came over and wanted to rest.  I rocked her to sleep in my arms then found a couch in the upstairs loft area to lay her on while I could still observe the other two playing below.  She was one tuckered out girl.

We sure enjoyed our day out together and with these two sweet cousins.

Happy 6th Birthday

Camden Raye Haile is officially 6.  We celebrated her day in her favorite way - at a hotel with a swimming pool!

What a joy and treasure in our lives!
