Waveland Carnival

Saturday night was the Waveland Elementary Carnival.  Camden was excited to see the inside of the school she will go to next year.  She will be a Waveland Hornet!

I love this little old school.  The gym is typical of small town Indiana gyms.  I think it was part of the original school.  The crowd was a perfect size and the carnival, too.  We paid a small fee and Camden got to play unlimited games.  She went from game to game about 4-5 times each.  She came home with a bag full of trinkets and a smile on her face. She had such a good time.

There was a long wait for a balloon animal, but she patiently waited to get a purple and pink dragonfly.

She also got a fish painted on her face.

Of course, this was because she had earlier successfully tossed a ping pong ball into the fish bowl.  Yes, we now have 2 fish!

The new one is a small, brownish gold fish (in the bottom left corner of the bag) and has met her tank pal, Ruby.  I hope Louise (Ruby's pal in the cartoon) is as hearty as Ruby.  So far, so good.

Picnic Luncheon

Friday was a family luncheon at Camden's school.  We all pitched in food and enjoyed a nice picnic outdoors.  It was a sunny day with a bit of wind, but enjoyable.  I can't believe that in one more week this incredible school year will be over!  We will miss Kids Kingdom and Miss Lana!

Paxton's mom and dad brought his new 4-day-old sister, Avalynn.  It is their 8th child!  Only the second girl.  Can.not.imagine.

Kevin had to get to work, but not before he and Camden were able to help clean up.  Camden loved learning to take down the tables and roll them inside.

She couldn't decide if she wanted to go home or stay for a movie, so I sat with her for about a 1/2 hour and we watched Bug's Life with the remaining kids.  Then we headed out for some errands and library time.

Office Workers

Since Kevin drove, he did not have to take his two passengers back to school.  Well, he would have except we have been taking Paxton back and forth to school this week because his mom just had a baby on Monday.  He brought the two of them by my office so I could show everyone off.

Camden couldn't believe all the pictures of her that graced my office.  I actually didn't really realize how many I had until I started pointing them out.  There are 18 plus a rotating screen shot of various moments.  She is one loved baby girl!

Columbian Park & Zoo

Camden's final field trip with her Preschool was on Tuesday.  They went to the Columbian Park Zoo.  It was on Kevin's day off, so he was able to go, too.  They rode the train when they first arrived and again before they left.

They had some fun free time on the huge playground.

This picture is just for you, Aunt Carole...I didn't put Camden's hair back in the morning and on a overcast, windy day it looks just horrible!  Note to self...when in doubt, pony tail.

I love that they were in my neck of the woods, so I met them at lunchtime and enjoyed about an hour with my two favorite people.

After lunch, they headed to the zoo.  Gavin is the boy in the next two pictures.  He and Camden are usually the last two picked up everyday so they have a fun friendship too.  He is a very silly kid with great parents who go to our church.  I'm glad to know that they will be friends as they grow up even if they won't go to school anymore together.

The zoo had newborn goats (just about 2 weeks old).  They were very friendly and docile with the children, but Kevin said the momma goats were a little concerned.

Camden now has a new favorite place.  She can't wait to go back to Columbian Park this summer.

New Friends

Camden and I met up with my secretary, Kate, and her three kids on Saturday at Chuck E. Cheese's.

Caroline, her middle child, is a week or two younger than Camden.  They both are blond haired, blue eyed cuties and enjoyed playing together so much.  So sweet!

BooBoo

Camden has been extra whiny lately.  Think she is tired of school, struggling with allergies that make her feel just a little off, and just...whiny.  Every little thing sets her off crying.  Sometimes I have some sympathy though.  Last night at GaGa's she fell and bumped her leg fairly hard on a table.  It was scraped and had a raised bumped that was bruising.  They iced it immediately, but Camden still wanted some more TLC when we got home.  Another 20 minutes of ice and some "mom time" seemed to help.

Boy she looks so big!

Ugly, But Tasty!

Good thing I don't have aspirations to be a food blogger.  My food (and pictures thereof) are not very appealing to the eyes.  They do, however, usually taste pretty good.

This was my latest cheesecake creation using my mom's German Chocolate Frosting.  The cake had been in the refridgerator and really need a little bit more time at room temperature before we cut into it.  The frosting was a little hard and the cake was crumbly.  Boy it was tasty!  The leftovers were fantastic the next day at room temperature.

I would add a little more frosting and not frost/assemble until right before serving so that it didn't have to sit in the fridge.  But I would sure make this one again!  Great combination of flavors!

Cousin's Game Night

About 7 years ago, some of my cousins and I decided we would get together for game nights.  We successfully did the second one this weekend.  Geesh!

The four couples (my cousin Scott and his wife Julie could not make it at the last minute) meet up at Melinda (aka Mindy) and Roger's house in Zionsville.  It's the perfect spot - centrally located with the best kid-friendly basement around.

Ten-month old Kate and teenager Emme stayed upstairs with the adults the whole evening and helped entertain us.

Camden romped with Elisha, Sophie, Claire, and Kirsten.  She was not ready to go when I stopped the play for the picture and for clean-up (see her face!).  In fact, when we got up on Sunday morning she said she was ready to go back to her cousins house.  She also informed me that I could just drop her off and leave; no need to stay.  Wow!  I think she likes her extended family!
