First Field Trip

The kids were all in yellow because it was field trip day.  Two other parents and I joined the three teachers to take 19 kids (3 were sick) to Turkey Run.  Ms. Lana had last minute transportation glitches, so we took the kids in our cars.  Three rode with me - Camden, Drew, and Paxton.

It was a nice, cool fall morning.  We arrived about 9am, unloaded near a picnic area, took our first potty break, and sat down for morning snack.

Then it was off for our morning hike. It was no wimpy trail either.  First we had to go down 70 steps and across the suspension bridge.

Next we hiked through the rock formations, jumping over small streams, climbing over trees, and exploring all of the beautiful nature around us.

We hiked back to the "punch bowl" but the water fall was barely a dribble because of the lack of rain this summer.  The kids loved it anyway!  We made our way back, hunted for shells on the "beach" near the creek, and then headed back to the tables for lunch.

After lunch we went to the nearby playground (the same one where I got the great picture of Camden hugging Kevin's neck).  We thought they'd be worn out, but they ran and played so hard for 45 minutes or so.  We then headed in to the Nature Center and ended the day with an afternoon hike through the woods on an easy, flat trail.  We headed back to school at 2pm for one of the girl's birthday celebration (cupcakes for afternoon snack!).  Perfect timing for the school day to end at 3pm.  Whew!
