Birthday Party - Other Activities

Our little blow-up pool was perfect for the little ones...especially with noodles!

Ladderball and Cornhole kept the kids and some of the adults entertained.

Others made "camp" under the shade of the pine trees and could watch all the action.

Logan's grandma, Brenda, as well as our faithful family friend Bill were wonderful guests.

Even LaLa's doggie, LuLu joined the party fun.

Hoyt did a little bit of everything and enjoyed the yard exploring (when he wasn't eating pool noodles).

Birthday Party - The Main Attraction

Camden's birthday isn't until this weekend, but we had her party on Sunday.  Our brainstorm this year for a fun activity was a giant slip-n-slide.  Since our backyard has a perfect slope, we got a large (10'x50') sheet of plastic and a garden soaker hose.  We also bought tons of pool noodles, thinking we would use them to weight down the sides and create some pooling of water, but it turned out to be fine with tacking down a few key spots.

In addition to family, Camden had her two best friends over, Paxton and Logan.  They really got into it and had a blast!

Even Tinkerbell took a few turns!

Amanda had to assist Presley the first time, but after that she was good to go.  Hoyt also tried a few times, but Hali didn't want a thing to do with it.

VBS

I had decided not to let Camden go back to the VBS at the corner church since it is usually so chaotic.  It helped that she had swim lessons that week which interfered.  However, when cold temperatures and rain cancelled three days in a row, she was begging to go.  She loves it so I had to let go of my higher expectations.

Turns out, I was wrong.  They made VAST improvements in how things were run and this year was super good.  Even the closing program was done well.  Mostly because of the improvement in song selection.

The closing program was filled with singing...of course, our girl can project so well when she sings and most of the other kids don't so she "carried" most of the numbers she was a part of.  It's truly hilarious!

The entire group of Pre-K through 6th grade.  I think they said there were about 55 who attended this week.

There were only 5 1st & 2nd graders at the program.  Not sure how many were there that week.  Paxton came this year (he's only in Kindergarten, but older than the little kids so I think they put him in this group), along with two of her Waveland classmates (Brandon & Connor).

The 3rd and 4th graders joined in.

The also had an "open-mike" for kids to share their favorite thing about VBS.  Camden was one of the first to raise her hand (not surprising) and then was a bit stumped on what to say.  Rachel (the director) prompted her a bit and she finally said that her favorite song was the "ABCDEFG" song that her class performed.

Kuddos to the church for making strides toward a good VBS for our town.

Cox Ford

We had our first outing of the summer to the go-cart track.  Austin was home from Job Corps so he, too, was able to enjoy one of the family favorite activities.

Austin enjoyed passing his "old man" even though Kevin insists he "let him."

More Swim Lessons

There is a splash pad outside the pool area.  It is open in the evenings even after the pool is closed.  Camden loves running around in this area, which we did several nights.

Kindergarten Video

I was going through some emails at work and came across a link to a video that Mrs. Barr put together of the 2013-2014 year.  Such a good class of kids!  Such great memories!
