Field Trip

Thursday was Camden's first field trip that parents were allowed to come on.  I have been told that the 4th graders go on many, many field trips throughout the year....I can't wait!

On this trip we headed to the four, small museums we have in Crawfordsville.  I have only toured one of them, so I was happy to see the insides of these treasures.

I was glad to wait a few minutes in her classroom before we left.  I only know about 1/2 of these kids, so I was happy to put some names/faces together.

The kids do morning seat work first thing.  Each has a binder with a reading assignment and a math assignment each day.  They also have books they can read to start the morning.

Camden was chosen to help carry one of the lunch totes to the bus.  Boy is that a big deal!  Hands shoot up to volunteer.  They pick a friend to help them.  She picked Caleb...and thankfully because the tote was heavy and they had a long way to walk.

Our first stop was the Lane House.  The grounds of this mansion are used for the Strawberry Festival so we have been here many times, but never inside.  It's exactly like you would expect, but it was nice to learn more about this family and their role in Montgomery/US history.

Henry Lane was a senator and friend of Abraham Lincoln.  In fact, he was one of Lincoln's pallbearers.

The docents made the hour tour endurable for 4th graders, but they loved being take outdoors afterward and run the grounds for a few minutes before moving on to the next location.
