Award Ceremony

On the last day of school, Camden received a few awards as part of the final awards ceremony.

Mrs. McGaughey (2nd grade teacher) opened the ceremony with some words of comfort and praise.  It was a very emotional day being the final day EVER of this fabulous little school.

Camden received the Music award for Kindergarten.  Oh how she loves to sing!

For the Kindergarten class awards, Camden received the Reading Award.  Boy was she proud of this one!

Her friends Rylee and Braydon received the Principal's Award for Kindergarten.  They are such well behaved, kind, and mature little ones.

Mr. Petry closed the day with final words.  He is retiring from teaching after 39 1/2 years - all at Waveland Elementary School!

All of the teachers and staff were individually recognized along with how long they had been at Waveland.  All but 4 had been there more than 7 years!  Most had been there 14+!  It's no wonder this school is so special.  This staff was truly invested in the lives of all the families in this community.  Mr. Petry said it well.  "This is not just a school, it is a family."  Then he addressed the students directly and told them, "Go make this family proud."  There literally was not a dry eye in the house (at least among the adults).

I'm sure proud of our girl!
