Balloon Classic

One of the biggest reasons we went to the Lake Waveland event was the hot air balloon.  There were tethered rides for a very reasonable cost.

We stood in line and watched the fill.

Finally it was Kevin and Camden's turn.

Up, Up, and Away...

The tethered ride went about 80 feet in the air.

Camden loved it (and so did Kevin).

Lake Waveland

I hadn't even thought about the fact that we were at the LAKE, but I let Camden wear her swimsuit to the event.  So she was super excited to be able to swim.  We didn't have a towel, but it was warm enough that she drip-dried pretty quickly.

She would have stayed in there all evening, but we were hot!  One of the Waveland firemen had gotten the hose out and we went back to toward the activities and Camden enjoyed getting sprayed.

Turned out the fireman was one of her classmates Darryl) dad.  He let Camden have a turn holding the hose.

Such fun!

Touch a Truck

Lake Waveland had a great event last weekend - the 2nd annual Touch a Truck and Balloon Classic.  We arrived at the beach area and were surprised to see bounce houses in addition to the trucks.

Camden quickly went to play and enjoyed seeing lots of her Waveland school friends.

The Waveland Volunteer Fire Department brought all their trucks and she climbed and explored them, as well as some tractors and other vehicles.

Saturday Fun with Cousins

Haliana and Presley came over on Saturday.  It was a gorgeous day to play outside.  There were water balloons to fill.

Water fights to have.

Puppies to chase and hold.

And, of course, pools to splash in.

And swings to swing on.

I simply love her long, muscular legs as she cleans her feet off before jumping in again!

These girls had such fun!  The first picture is not the best since they both have fake smiles, but I thought it was interesting how similar their mouths were in the fake smile.

Still not perfect, but a better picture of the two.

Fruit Pizza

I made a fruit pizza for a dinner meeting I had last week.  There were only going to be 6 ladies, so I decided to make two in pie plates rather than one large one.  I also didn't have a pizza pan and didn't want to free form a circle.

I decorate the one for my meeting and Camden decorated the second one for us at home.

She said it was a sea shell design.  I was pretty impressed!

Turkeys and Eagles

Camden has been obsessed a bit about turkeys.  Well, at least drawing them in sidewalk chalk on our front porch.  They mainly look like the "hand print" ones you learn to do in early elementary.

Last week I went outside to find that she had drawn a few more turkeys...and this beauty above.  I asked Kevin if he had drawn it.  No.  The neighbor girl?  No.  Finally, Camden and I were outside and I asked her if she drew this turkey.  "Mom!  It's not a turkey, it's an eagle."

I fell in love with this little eagle.  There is just something so sweet about it and I love all the details she claimed that she drew.  I'm still a little skeptical, but it's pretty Camden-ish too.

Strawberry Festival 2014

On Saturday, we headed to the Strawberry Festival.  Camden invited Paxton to join us.

Many, many games were played, small trinkets won, and a few tears shed when no goldfish were won (geesh!)

One of the neatest new exhibits was by PNC Bank.  It was a free interactive series of 4 stations for kids 5 and under.  Camden couldn't believe it didn't cost any tickets!

At one of the stations, they got to select what they wanted to be when they grew up.  That costume was put on and they got a picture taken in front of a green screen.  Later, an appropriate background was added.  Camden selected fireman and Paxton selected cop.

Then off to bounce house obstacles and pony rides.

Paxton had never ridden a horse before.  He was pretty excited.

They each painted a masterpiece.

Finally, everyone enjoyed some homemade ice cream with strawberries (of course!).
