Up The Creek

Saturday was opening day of our favorite Pizza/Ice Cream place.  It's just 10 minutes down the road near Turkey Run State Park.  Kevin had to work, but Camden has been asking about going, so we grabbed Paxton and headed down for some breadsticks and ice cream.

While waiting for our food, the two of them "played" some games.

We dug into the best breadsticks around...bonus that Paxton likes the nacho cheese, Camden likes tomato sauce, and I get a little of both!

Camden really loves the food, but the real reason she wants to go here is the boats.  She couldn't wait to show Paxton how "awesome" they were.  It was a little chilly with the wind, but they could have played for hours.  They both have such active imaginations and so got busy spotting sharks, fighting pirates and taking turns being captain.  Too much fun!

Buggy Cupcakes

Since it's Spring, Miss Lana is teaching all about bugs.  Tomorrow is a spring carnival and she asked parents to bring in cakes/cupcakes/brownies for a buggy cakewalk.  Camden, of course, wanted pink ones...and Turtle ones.  I couldn't find any TMNT decorations, so asked if she just wanted a second color.  Second choice is always purple.  I'm actually not sure why I even asked!  I was planning on doing half the cupcakes with pink frosting and half with purple.  When I went to decorate last night, I gave her a sample cupcake with a little of each color.  She loved it and decided that's how all of them should be.

I topped each one off with a gummy worm (the closest "bug" candy decoration I could find).  They turned out really cute.  (Toothpicks are to keep the plastic wrap from sticking - forgot to take pictures before I stuck them in).

Marigolds

On the last week day of Spring Break, Camden and her dad picked up a Veggie Tales bucket of Marigolds that were on sale at Big R.  Together, they potted the flowers and we are anxiously waiting to see if they will sprout and we can plant them outside (along with the leftover seeds).

***All I can think about when I look at these pictures is that I need to clear my kitchen table more often...gesh, what a (normal) mess***

Kinderdance

Camden takes dance on Tuesday evenings.  It's only a 30 minute lesson at the local ballet academy.  It's called Kinderdance and is a way to introduce 3-5 year olds to music and movement.  I think she loves the 5 minutes before class when she gets to climb and dance around the lobby almost as much as the class itself.

Notice the one black sock and one white sock.  It's useful for directing the kids on which foot to move or direction to go.  Pretty ingenius if you ask me.  She gets a sticker for each class she attends.

We are trying to expose Camden to multiple activities in these early years to help her select what she'd like to be involved in long-term.  I don't think she will choose dance so we might not go past this spring in another class unless she asks for it.  We will probably continue with swimming on some level (there is a good club team in our town) and perhaps introduce her to some form of martial arts in the fall and soccer in the spring.  We want her to be active without being those parents who are running crazy from one activity to the next.

Summer Cut

Camden has been asking for about a month for a haircut.  It was getting very long, but also very damaged, breaking off, and tangling horribly.  Still, I kept hesitating.  We had only cut her ends twice.  I thought she was asking because a few of her friends at school had gotten cuts lately, but on Saturday (after a week of not being at school), she asked again.

I stopped at our salon on Saturday afternoon to see if Haley (our favorite) was available.  She just returned from maternity leave and was booked solid.  But Blondie, the owner, had the time and got her in.

She explained that girls won't get their full/true hair until about age 12, but that what was the bottom third of her hair was still "baby hair" and was very fine, brittle, and very hard to comb/brush.  It was no wonder we had a tough time in the morning!  She cut Camden's hair to a nice shoulder length which we can still pull up in a ponytail or barrette.  I didn't have her cut bangs but blend the shorter pieces into the long.  We spent the afternoon at Turtle Park (including getting a strawberry ice cream cone at Dari-licious) and the wind made it impossible to get a good picture.  But it is adorable and Camden is very happy.

Washing her hair last night and brushing it for church this morning was tear-free.  It obviously more healthy and will be easier to maintain.  Very pleased with the results!

Easter Baskets

Another random picture of our Easter baskets...Camden got a few treats and a new DVD.  Kevin (and I when I steal from his bag) got a few good chocolates (love the Reester Bunny!) and a new CD (yes we still use that older music format...although Kevin also uses I-Tunes).

Snow Angels

A random left-over picture from our random spring snow storm. Love these two angels!
