BKC Schedule

Camden's camp schedule is:

 

 

Counselor Activity:  A time to get them warmed up to the day and interacting with their counselor.

 

SWIMMING:  See below - of course it's a highlight!  The first day they had a test to see how well they could swim.

 

 

 

 

Morning Snack:  We provide each day.  I usually do something like some fruit, pretzels/cheese-its, and juice.  I feel like a 70's mom because it is put in a brown paper bag with her name on the front.

 

Camper Time:  Not sure what this is...thinking might be free play in gym.

 

Lunch:  I paid a little extra for her to eat in a Purdue dining hall.  Apparently most of the kids bring their lunch and Camden doesn't like going over to eat "with just a few other kids and the counselors".  I thought she would love getting to pick from all the options, but instead feels "not like the other kids" and wants me to pack her lunch.  Boy...wanting to fit in starts early!

Program Activity I & II:  The group rotates through two stations for about an hour each.  They do various activities each day.  Monday's are "Mystery day" and their big, surprise activity was to ride the Boilermaker Special Train around campus.  Other days they will do sports (including walleyball and badminton), crafts, science, cooking, and climbing the biggest rock wall in the Big 10!  It is huge.  This is about half way up!

Afternoon Snack:  Same as morning

Then we pick her up.  She is exhausted!  But what a fun week she will have.

More swimming pictures to see what the area is like.  She calls it the "Hotel"...well, because we always go swimming in big pools like this at hotels.

All of the kids who can't proficiently swim and/or the water is above their head wear a life vest.  Probably about half the kids.  There is also a ledge on the left side of the pool that is only about a foot deep.  She is playing over by the small waterfall in the back left of that picture.

To the right is a water volleyball court.  It's just above her head, but with her vest, she likes to go swimming over to it.  She is just swimming out of the circle at the top of the picture.
