Farmer K

The chicks are getting HUGE.  They are plumping up nicely and should be good to butcher in the next month or so.

Crops are also starting to come up.  Kevin didn't like that I was taking pictures because he hadn't weeded yet (this weekend!).  But things are popping...and the deer fence seems it has promise to keep them out this year!

Office Swap

For a number of reasons we have changed office spaces.  I am moved to a larger space to allow me more counter space/storage cabinets for the work I do.

Mother's Day

Kevin had to work on Mother's Day, but Camden and I continued our time together.  After church, she "took" me to lunch at Yamato.  It was so fun talking to her and giggling together.  We ran a quick errand and then home for a sweet, short nap.  When Kevin got home we hopped in the car and went to the Beef House for dinner.  This weekend was truly a perfect Mother's Day.

Momma and Her Girl

We have spent so many of our last months with lots of friends hanging out.  I enjoy it and love that Camden has someone to enjoy and play with.  This weekend, however, our schedule didn't allow for any one to join us.  I forgot how much I love just being with my baby girl!  We had so much fun together.

On Saturday, after the 4H meeting, we headed to Indianapolis to the 500 Kids Fest.  It was part fun and part work, as I was scouting whether one of the nonprofits I'm involved with should participate next year.  We walked around the circle, played games, and won trinkets and t-shirts.

We raced home to help Kevin finish up the meal for GaGa and Gramma Pat for Mother's Day.  He had it well under control...and had cleaned the house!  The smoked pulled pork was so good.  His new "toy" is one of our favorite purchases.  Every meat comes off perfectly!

The yummy meal was finished off with fresh fruit shortcakes and whipped cream.

Brown Lucky Leaf 4H Club

Camden has signed up to do 4H this year.  We got a late start so she has to attend the next 2 meetings to be eligible.  This month's was on Saturday at the Waveland Fire Station.

They did the two pledges and then a mother's day project - bath bombs.

Every kid took turns doing some job.  Camden did the first step of mixing all the dry ingredients.

After the wet ingredients were mixed, they were slowly added to the dry ingredients and stirred together.  The peppermint essential oils filled the room with sweet aroma.

This mixture was then poured into molds and ice cube trays to create individual bath bombs and then poured out on waxed paper to dry.

While they waited, the kids did a community service project of taking flyers for the upcoming summer Movies Under the Stars series for Waveland Strong.  I escorted this group of 4 around one block.

Camden is doing 2 projects this year - foods (4th graders do muffins) and fine arts (painting).  She is doing a Painting with a Twist summer camp so she will complete her project during this week.  Easy enough!

Sprinkler Time!

They thought it was warm enough to get wet!  Sophia and Emma were over after school so I dug out a few old swimsuits/shorts and the three of them had fun!

Please note, Camden has her swimsuit on backwards.  Made for a very low-cut experience.

At dinner, they got out Camden's "fire" breathing dragon.  It is such a cute toy!

Lunch with Camden

Kevin and I were invited to have lunch with Camden at her school.  It fell on Tuesday, which, thanks to a vacation relief schedule he was working, Kevin was off!  So we were both able to attend.

Camden was supposed to have her school lunch, but didn't like what they were having.  Since Kevin and I were only enjoying the veggies and fruit, we had her get a chicken salad on a croissant.  She raved!

Kevin's beard makes him look like his face/mouth is crooked!

She had to stand to eat a tomato slice because it was so juicy.  It was a beautiful day and we were thankful to be outside in the shelter.  We were more thankful to be together!
