Monday was back-to-school night. I had to help at the front for PTO, so Camden and Kevin headed to her classroom to drop off supplies and "meet" her teacher. She is sooooo excited to have Mr. Dan Chadd this year.
He is a favorite at the school. Married to her teacher from last year (Mrs. Chadd!). They have 3 boys (oldest is Camden and youngest is Cale and in this class too). He is an assistant coach for varsity basketball.
This is the high-ability class and they do some really great activities, including a new robotics program this year. He is a great combination of laid-back and competitive and runs his classroom around both. I think Camden will thrive here.

Newport, KY
On our stay-cation, we planned to head to Cincinnati for the day. Gramma Pat was staying with us for a few days after Camden's birthday party. Then we got news that my Aunt Sharon had died suddenly and unexpectedly. They lived just outside of Cincinnati. So Aunt Carole and Uncle Ric decided to come along. We would spend the day doing a few things around the city then go to the viewing that evening.
Our first stop was our favorite German restaurant called, Hofbrauhaus. They had a lunch buffet that we all enjoyed. It was a great way to sample different wurst, schnitzel, and various sides like German potato salad, homemade sauerkraut, and purple cabbage & apples. We also shared a sampler appetizer with a German pretzel, potato pancakes with applesauce, and sauerkraut balls.
Camden had a cheeseburger! And a diet coke with lemon just like her Uncle Ric.
After lunch we crossed the street to cross the Purple People Bridge. It connects Newport with downtown Cincinnati. It's only for pedestrians and bikers.

Birthday Gifts
Taking a short break from swimming, we sang, "Happy Birthday" and everyone grabbed some ice cream while Camden opened her presents.
Camden was blessed with some amazing gifts. I always want to tell people not to bring anything, but my daughter doesn't like that plan.
Our "fun" gift to her was "the world's largest gummy worm". It's about 3 feet long. We choose green since it's her favorite color. It says it's lime, but tastes like green apple...and is actually quite tasty!
All the kids thought it was the coolest thing ever! As her friend Jameson said, "It could feed a family of 4 for a week!"
Telling everyone thank you.

Birthday Fun
Having Camden's birthday at the Crawfordsville pool was fantastic. It was a perfect way to have lots of friends and family with minimal supervision or planning involved. Even the food was easy with the menu I selected (hot dogs, nachos, watermelon, and ice cream novelties).
The weather cooperated and we had a beautiful evening of fun!
Uncle Ric even got in on the action!
We also made easy goodie bags containing a bubble wand, sidewalk chalk, a marker, glow sticks, and some candy. Even the birthday girl wanted one.

Birthday Morning
Camden's party was not until the evening, but we decided to give her one of our gifts at home in the morning. It was love at first sight...and ever since, too.
