Gym

Just before lunch, Camden's class had gym.  The book fair was on the stage behind the goal so when I heard them come in, I went out to watch a bit.  Camden was goalie for floor hockey.

With a switch of people for the red team, Camden switched roles on the yellow team and was a fielder on the floor.

Then the yellow team sat out a game and she and Philip ran the score board (really just watched the time and waited for the automatic buzzer).

Her other teammates watching the action.

Classroom Work

During a break at the Book Fair, I headed to Camden's class.  There was a group working with Mrs. Chadd and two other groups working independently on posters for a book they read.

After Camden finished her poster, she used her Mini I-pad to review her spelling words for the test that they would take in a few minutes.  There were some really cute games that helped her master her words.  She got 100% plus four of the bonus words.

Morning Announcements

I was at school one day last week to help with the Book Fair.  I went to Camden's room first since I had about a half hour before it started.  As I got there, Camden and four other girls in her class were heading out.  "We are doing the morning announcements, Mom.  Come on!"

The girls gathered around the secretary's desk and close to the PA system.  Mrs. Larsen, the principal, came out to make some copies and say good morning.

Then each girl introduced themselves and they all said the Pledge of Allegiance and led the school in a moment of silence.

Dari-Licious

Opening day of the beloved Dari-Licious was on Wednesday.  They always have half-price milkshakes.  Of course we stopped (along with half of the city based upon the traffic jam) to get a strawberry one.

Recycled Valentine's Day

Camden had an extra credit assignment to use recycled objects to create something new.  They were encouraged (and most did) use this activity to make their Valentine's box.  Camden used an old cereal box, some stickers we had from a Happy Meal, and some scrap paper (both tissue and construction) that we had leftover from other uses.

She did everything on this besides wrapping the box!  We decided to have it lay on the side since it was more steady and wouldn't fall over.  It turned out very cute.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Fresh Air

One final play stop on our visit to Columbus was to an outdoor park.  It was chilly but the fresh air felt good.  Camden made a few friends and ran around playing.

I remembered we had been to this park one other time when Camden was still so little.  I asked her to climb through the blue/purple tunnel because I remembered it from that visit.

Wow!  Look how little...she was probably 21 months old in these pics.

We saw these wonderful, colorful "C"s throughout the city.  They are bike racks that, obviously stand for Columbus, but we like to think they are for Camden.

Kids Commons

After climbing for a bit, we headed across the street to a small hands-on museum called, "Kids Commons."  There were three partial floors of activities.

On the first floor, was a small Japanese house.  Camden enjoyed "eating" and "having tea".

In the next area was a camping area, a wood garden and a tree to climb inside.

Upstairs was an exercise area with jump ropes, dance area, and basketball games.

But Camden's favorite part was a model house that had an "attic" and "basement" to explore, hidden passageways, portraits with eye holes to hid behind and spook anyone who went by, and a HUGE toilet slide.

It was a very cool exhibit.  There was a small bubble area and a climbing wall (but tickets were sold out for the afternoon and she couldn't do).

They also were having a Valentine scavenger hunt with puzzle pieces scattered throughout the museum.  We found all 6 pieces and Camden was able to pick a prize from the treasure box on our way out.  It was a fun place!
