TMNT Pizza & Pool Party

Since all the family was in town for the shower, we decided to have a small pizza & pool birthday party for Camden that night at our hotel for my side of the family.  She still loves her Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so I made that as our theme.  I have always done her cakes, but for simplicity on a hectic day, I had the same decorator do her cake.  However, since we just had cake at the shower, we made it a brownie.  This was a HUGE hit with the birthday girl since it is her favorite treat right now.

We opened her gifts after eating.  She got some really fun gifts, including this piggy bank that plays "Happy Birthday" with each coin from her Great Aunt Linda.

Then it was on to what the birthday girl and other kiddos wanted to do - swim!

She rode on Joseph's back for underwater dives.

She loved playing with her Uncle Ric...

...who then became the human catapult.

Happy (early) birthday to our goofy, goof ball!

Baby B's Shower

My sister (the grandma) and I (the great aunt) hosted my neices baby shower this weekend.  We had a nice luncheon with 4 kinds of sandwiches (chicken salad, ham salad, cucumber, and the most amazing brie-apple-pecan-honey crescents), pasta salad, and a yogurt bar with fresh fruit and homemade granola.  YUM!

The cake was beautifully decorated by the best cake decorator in town (amazingly at a local grocery store).  The quasi-theme we had was "Tickled Pink" so everything was in pink with gray accents.  The glass jars are filled with various shades of pink candy.

As I said, the cake was amazing...well, except the small spelling mistake!  Noone else seemed to catch it at the party so we just laughed and moved on!

Around 30 wonderful ladies & girls came to celebrate Baby B.  This is for Braund, no first or middle name is being revealed at this point.

After lunch and visiting, we had two activities - making an ABC book and burp clothes.

There were some amazingly talented people.  Even Camden got in the act.  She just cut material, but didn't want to make a burp cloth unless she got to sew it by herself, NOT with Gramma's (or anyone else's) help.  Stubborn girl!

It was a very successful shower and we can't wait to meet Baby B in early September!

Goin' Fishin'

Well...at least practicing her casting.

This is the pole that GaGa and Grandpa gave her when she was born.

She caught a fish!  Sorta.

VBS Parade

Vacation Bible School at the little church on our corner starts this week.  They always kick off with a bike parade through town, ending at the park for a cookout.  We've never done the parade, but decided to give it a try.  The kids lined up behind the church.

Two Waveland fire trucks and the tractor with last year's Noah's Ark led the way.

Camden got in the middle of the pack and kept up with everyone.  In fact, I'm just in front of her at this point, but she left me about a block later.  We figured they were just going about 5 blocks to the park, but when they passed it, she was about 2 blocks a head of me and 1 block ahead of Kevin.

They ended up doing about a 3/4 mile loop of the town.  Kevin stayed as close as he could so if she got tired and wanted to stop one of us was there.  She made the whole loop!

It was a hot evening and her face was beet red, but as they circled the park to, well park, she looked like she wanted to do another loop!

Afterward we played in the park and ate dinner.  The theme this year is Jonah, so they, appropriately, had a fish fry.

Turkey Run Hike

We took a nice hike on one of the trails at Turkey Run this weekend.  It was a little muddy from recent rains, but Camden did a great job navigating the terrain.

There are some truly amazing "bowls" and inlets on these trails.  Pictures don't do them justice!

Do you see what she sees?

She was about to catch the little frog when he jumped away...I was pretty impressed she wanted to and got as close as she did!
