Grandparents Day

GaGa, Grandpa French, and Papaw Haile were able to attend Grandparent's Day at Camden's school yesterday. It is a really, really crazy crowded event but it means the world to the kids.

Camden's teacher does a 10 minute program in the classroom.  Afterword, the grandparents can take their grandkids to another classroom to see another grandkid or off to our book fair or the cafeteria to get pictures.

Camden had lots of reading parts in the classroom program.  GaGa took good pictures.

I love these few pictures of Camden.  I also hadn't gotten one of her with her teacher, so am very grateful to get a really nice one on this day.

A great picture of Camden with her Papaw, but GaGa forgot to get one of her and Grandpa with Camden.

The kids also made a nice picture for their grandparents.

As I said, this is a very crowded event.  The lines were too long for pictures, but they did stop at the book fair to pick out a few books and a poster.  I was running one of the cash registers, so Camden stopped by for a hug and to show me her new poster.  Camden is so very lucky to have such amazing, loving grandparents!

Hog Roast

On Saturday evening, one of our little Waveland churches had their annual Hog Roast.  We've gone since the first one six years ago and have seen it grow in popularity.  This year, they added a nice singer to entertain, a raffle of a few items, and a slide and dunk tank for the kids.

There was a nice size crowd and the hog sandwiches were yummy.

Camden enjoyed dunking a few of the local teenagers.  I'm not sure if she ever actually hit the target, but they encouraged her to dunk them anyway.

Pastor Rodney also had his supped-up tractor out for a "hayride" around town.  Camden went twice with her friend Rhianah.

Jackpot!

With errands to do around town the last two weekends, Camden and I have made a stop at Turtle Park a few times.  We get to enjoy the beautiful end-of-summer weather and get some good activity into our weekend.

One Saturday she asked to play with some kids who were tossing a football.  They ended up playing a game called "Jackpot" where each catch is worth various points and if you hit the jackpot number you get to be the thrower.

Camden didn't want to leave that day!  She had a blast with this game.

Fall Haircuts

Earlier this month, both Camden and I got haircuts.  Camden loves going to Cookie Cutters and they do an excellent job since all they focus on is kids.

I think she looks great with the little updo that is used to cut the layers underneath.

A little blow to get the bangs out of her eyes.

I also decided to do something I hadn't done in 30+ years - get a perm!  Now, it was just a body perm and simply gave some texture to my fine strands.  I let it dry naturally the first day to see how much "body" was in it.

I have really loved this extra lift.

Single Digits

The countdown loops are looking scarce!  Today she tore off the red "8" loop.  One week!

Brain Day

Wabash College Psychology Department held "Brain Day" on Saturday at the Carnegie Museum in Crawfordsville.  We had never been to this little gem, but Camden wanted to check it out.  It was not that grand of an event, but there were a few cool things to test out.

Camden made a cockroach's leg twitch using electronic stimulation.

This was the first 3-D printer I had ever seen.  It was printing a green brain to match the red and blue ones that it  had done earlier.

The next station was a robotic cockroach.  The department had implanted devices so that, when the jump drive was attached to the cockroach, you could control the direction it crawled by swiping on an I-phone.

Camden's favorite activity was the prism glasses.  It made it almost impossible to throw, walk, see straight.  Your brain would think you were throwing the bean bag straight ahead at the cornhole board, but you actually were throwing about 45 degrees to the left.

Bowlopolis Birthday Party

One of Camden's classmates had her birthday at the bowling alley this weekend.  Unfortunately, only 3 kids were able to make it.  Maybe because it was Sunday night, I don't know, but I felt so sad for little Ashley (and her parents who spent that money).

The girls had a great time, though.  They bowled, and giggled, and cheered.  The moms enjoyed talking to each other.

The birthday girl really loves Star Wars and they had a pull-string pinata.  It was filled with lots of good chocolate!

Magic Bands

A package came last week that had us all excited!

At this point, Camden didn't know what it was, but knew it was something she would like!

She actually still doesn't know EXACTLY what it is, but that it involves our trip to Disney!

These wristbands are worn by us and contain everything we need while we are at the park.

They are our hotel room keys, our park tickets, our fast passes (ride reservations that let us get into a shorter line and get on that ride quickly), our dining reservations, etc.  We actually have free Disney dining (all of our meals), so it also indicates that our meals are paid for.  We just need to cover tip.

Definitely worth dancing about!

Tabby and Misty

No, they are not our new kittens.  They belong to GaGa and Grandpa.  But we are making regular evening walks to visit them...with multiple requests for us to pleeeeeaaaasssse take one home.  They are definitely keeping Tabby (pictured), and will probably end up with Misty too.

Preslee Turns 4

A few Saturdays ago, Camden and I went to Preslee's birthday party.  The kids enjoyed riding the four-wheelers (one real, one battery powered) around the yard.

Preslee was dressed as a minion in a cute yellow shirt and a blue tutu that Amanda had made.

Hoyt loved the toys and presents that his big sister received.  He had to try everything out.

French Reunion

The annual French Reunion was this weekend at Turkey Run.  It is such a beautiful setting.  Camden played so hard!  She was red-faced and filthy by the time we wanted a picture.

I ended up without many pictures...good thing GaGa took some.
