How To Catch A Turkey

First I would
Get a net.
Hide behind
a tree and catch it.

Next I would
Put a big bowl
On its head
and ride it.

Last I would
camoflash
as a tree.

Dad's New Hat

Kevin got a new CSX hat at work.  It's a cool digital camo design.  Camden really liked it!

She wanted a picture with Tinker too.  Trying to get a dog to smile is hard work!

Maybe a little better?!?

First Snow

The snow started on Sunday afternoon.  It was Tinkerbell's first experience with it.  She pranced around in the first dusting.  Camden joined her.

They danced around and Tinker dug her nose into the small piles.  By evening we had a good ground cover and the two got out again and played.

Camden's favorite thing is catching the flakes on her tongue and picking it up off the ground to eat (but no yellow or brown snow - she always reminds us!).

School Notes

Camden's second 6 week report card came home with great comments:  Her handwriting is improving (at least when she wants it too!).  She also struggles a bit with "only child syndrome" and wanting her way...so it's nice to see that the teacher is seeing an improvement on that front as well.  She had all A's this 6 weeks, so she made the HIGH honor role.  We are so proud of her effort and growth.

Also in her binder on this day was a list that she made at some point.  It was not homework, but reflects what she was thinking about...

What I heart (love)
toys
God
mom
dad
frends + scool

What I dont heart (love)
snacs (snakes) + spidrs

I just adore this girl's heart!

Best.Girls.Day.Ever

After our visit with Grammy, Daddy met us at Monster Golf when he got off work.  Gramma Pat had never been there and held her own against us "experts" and the monsters.  We then headed over to dinner together and finally ended the night with yogurt from the Pink Walrus.  Daddy headed home after dinner, so it was just us three girls.  Camden declared it the best.girls.day.ever!  I know we all enjoyed our time with Gramma Pat.

Pete the Cat

Gramma Pat was visiting Grammy on Saturday, so we took the afternoon to do the same.  We were thrilled that Aunt Linda was there too.

Grammy's room at the nursing home is small so we always get another room near the cafeteria to talk.  Camden usually has a hard time being patient and waiting during our visit, but I asked her to read a book to them and she was excited to do so.  She selected one of her Pete the Cat books called, "Too Cool for School."

I loved that she did the group reading/teacher reading thing and read a page, then showed the pictures to everyone around the circle.

Everyone got a big kick out of this silly book.  To fill the rest of the long visit, she played games on my phone.  She spent significant time showing Gramma how to play various games and find things on an IPhone.  It's amazing how tech savvy she is!

Gramma was a good student, too!

Waveland Halloween

The Town of Waveland had a Halloween gathering the hour before trick or treating in town.  The town council decorated the shelter in the park and awarded prizes for costume, pumpkin carving, and house decorating.  The turnout was fairly good despite the weather.

There were fun prizes for the winners of each competition.

Camden was enthralled by the head in a globe thing!  She stared and laughed at it the entire time we were there.

Camden went as Mikey again, but we bought a mask at Walmart for her to wear.  It was a cute mask, but not as cute as her face.  Oh well!  It made her day.  She did admit to me a few days later that next year she would like a costume without a mask.

The weather was getting pretty wet and cold so we quickly went to GaGa and Grandpa's and then to Papaws.

Next we drove around town and stopped at any house with lights on.  The trick-or-treaters were few and far between and lots fewer houses were giving treats out, but she still got a good bag full of candy.

And she couldn't have cared whether it was raining, cold, or SNOWING!  She had a blast!

Class Party

Another parent and I ran Mrs. Gonczarow's class fall party on Halloween.  We organized it into 3 stations.  She took the cookie/cupcake decorating, and I prepped the craft and game stations.  We recruited another volunteer to run the games and I handled the craft.

We made scarecrow magnets made from popsicle sticks and felt.

We also made the classic tissue ghost on a tootsie pop.  Both of these boys (Ian and Jameson) had such darling (or funny) expression.

The game station was quite simple, but it was were we were able to give out lots of candy and trinkets.  The split there time between a toss into small pumpkin buckets where they got to keep whatever prize was in the bucket and a ring toss onto pumpkins where they got a prize if they successfully got a ring around a stem.

The snack station was really well done.  Each kid got a small baggie with orange frosting that they used to decorate their cupcake and/or cookie.  Plus lots of sprinkles, etc. to top it off.

I simply love school parties! I am thankful that I have a job that allows me such flexibility to be able to be so active in Camden's school life.

Mikey!

The costume of choice this year was her favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle - Michelangelo (or Mikey).  For most of the month she kept saying she wanted to be a unicorn again.  It wasn't until the middle of the week before our first Halloween activity (Saturday before Halloween) that she changed her mind and I had to scramble a bit.

I had seen the roasting pan shell on Pinterest and thought that would be good with a green sweatshirt and pants.  Unfortunately, you can't find those ANYWHERE!!!  I figured we could just use her t-shirt instead and find green tights or leggings or something.  NOPE. NOWHERE!  The night of the Russellville community party (small town near us) I scoured her clothes and found the green soccer socks and a green pair of shorts.  Nothing really matches, but it's still cute!

We found great material that morning at Walmart for her mask, but it frayed very easily.  I didn't have time to get out the sewing machine and fight it, so I just hot glued the edges.  It was a very sloppy job, but it worked well in a pinch.

She entered the "character" costume contest and took 10th place.  Not bad considering there were like 25 kids in this category (some categories only had 10 or less kids).  She was pleased.

We then took off the shell, had some dinner and played games for the rest of the evening.  It was a very fun event and all three of us had fun.
