Lighthouse Point Beach

At the point of the island sits the Tybee Island Lighthouse.  You can see it in the back of most pictures below.  More will be posted later this week about our climb up it.  One evening we gathered our beach gear and walked about a mile to the point and enjoyed the place where the River meets the Ocean.

The tide was low and several creatures were on the beach.  This crab was expired, so Kevin turned it over so that Camden could get a good look.
My favorite moment on this outing was shortly after Kevin and Camden enjoyed a deep dip.

I noticed a woman walking along the beach very close to the shore.  She would stop every few minutes.  It didn't take long to figure out why.  Several dolphins had come very close to shore and were interacting with her.  They couldn't be more than 10 feet from the water's edge.

This was the best picture we snapped of dolphins to date.  It's like trying to capture a picture of lightening.  It happens so fast, you can't click quick enough.

Kevin didn't see them right away (I think he was still playing in the sand), but then he sat down on the very edge and tried slapping the water like they do to see if they would come visit him.  No such luck...but we enjoyed our close dolphin encouter regardless.
