Second Round

Camden's in a second round of swim lessons.  I can't believe how quickly they make progress in four short half-hour slots.  There are lots more kids this go-around and several teachers.

They swam a few laps across the kiddie section with a board, then were shown how to use their arms as their guide and did a lap "swimming" on their own.

Then they went over to the deeper end (just above their heads) and practiced floating on their back (she can do briefly) and getting comfortable on their stomachs.

The teacher takes them about 5-8 feet away from the edge to practice.  After Camden's turn, the teacher turned her onto her stomach and had her swim back.  She did it!  She swam the 5 feet back to the edge on her own!  We plan to get her in the next round again in April to keep building on these skills.

Camden goes all out during the lessons...while she is "waiting" her turn, she is bobbing in the water and dunking her head under.  She keeps her eyes open the whole time.  You can't tell much from the picture below, but even after such a short time in the water, her eyes are pink from all the exposure.
