Sprained Knee

Before I catch up on Christmas and Break posts, a quick note about our weekend.  Camden had a few friends over and while playing, she was jumping around.  At one point she stopped and fell to the ground complaining about the bones in her knee.  She said it felt like her knee moved out of place and then came right back in.  She couldn't put weight on it without being in extreme pain.  I got her settled on the couch, propped up with an ice pack.

The next morning it was no better.  There was slight swelling but not bad.  I figured it was just a sprain, but since she still couldn't put much weight on it, we headed to the clinic after church.

The doctor said it is very common for kids knee caps to slide off and back on and the problem is that sometimes it can get a small chip when it happens.  A few x-rays later confirmed that nothing was broken or chipped, but she would have to have it immobilized to heal.  We wrap it in an ace bandage and she will wear a knee brace for a week or so.  She is restricted from gym for the week, but should be back to no restrictions next week.
