Covered Bridge Festival 2016

On Saturday morning we decided to go to the Covered Bridge Festival.  We always go to Rockville because it is significantly less crowded (still a zoo) and we have to get the best fudge in the world (which is under the big tent on the courthouse square).  Rhianah was staying the night with us before we went on our mini-vaca, so we picked her up on our way.

Our first stop was at the Rustic Owl.  It is a shop in Waveland that now has a store in Rockville.  This one is bigger and laid out well.  It even has an outdoor patio area.  It is a block and 1/2 off the courthouse square and had 4 spots of parking.  I bribed my friend, Jamee, who works there into letting us stay parked at the store for free...well, in exchange for a square of chewy praline fudge.

Arriving at the courthouse square to begin our adventure.

This grouping of pumpkins caught our eye.  Too adorable!

Our first food purchase was an ear of buttered corn.  I always have to get one in memory of my dad.

Then we walked through the big tent getting lots of samples, shopping for sweet little purses (each girl got one), and purchasing several items.  I don't usually buy stuff, but we found some neat or yummy things this day.

On the east side of the square, there were a few scarecrow displays.  This was the girls favorite.

On our way out we grabbed two small snacks to share (corn nuggets with honey butter for Gramma Pat and I; strawberry shortcake for Rhianah and Camden).  We also got one last sample - pear butter and pumpkin butter.  We all pick pumpkin butter as our favorite.

Very fun day for all of us!
