5th Grade Picnic

The way our school decided to commemorate the graduation of the 5th graders was with a family picnic.  The PTO ran it and borrowed the luau decorations from the Southmont prom the weekend before.  It was held on the last Friday night of school.

The PTO provide hot dogs and drinks while the families pitched in sides and desserts.

A DJ provide music fro the shelter and the families enjoyed the playgrounds and yard games.

The art teacher also unveiled the permanent mural that will be hung in the halls of New Market.  It is a tradition she started last year with each graduating class.  The wood is actually the old, original bleachers that were removed last summer during renovations.  Each 5th grader has a square with their handprint on it.

It was a nice evening...until Camden got a headache and she and Kevin headed home about 45 minutes into the evening.  They had about a 3 hour recess that day at school and she ran around for most of the time she was at the picnic.  Definitely seeing heavy physical exertion/exercise is one of her triggers (it's one of the common ones).
