5 Years!

Today is Kevin and my 5th anniversary (these are not the greatest pictures of that day, but the best ones I had on my hard drive at work).  Hard to believe how quickly time has gone.  It's been a pretty fun ride, though.  Really couldn't ask for a better partner in this journey.

Plus, he's kinda cute!

Moods

Camden is fairly even-tempered.  Although she is very emotive in her voice inflections and, lately, her facial expressions.  One day at dinner, I asked her a few questions to get various responses.  Here are the faces I encountered (followed by..."can I see?" and giggles when she viewed the picture).

Days with no naps or long excursions we saw the last two faces more often!

High and Low Tide

It was remarkable to see how the tide changed throughout the day.  When it was high, there was very little beach.  In fact sometimes you had to get your feet wet to even get to the beach.

The water also could be explored a little further; although not too far without Daddy's assistance.

The times when the tide was low were also interesting.  It would recede far out into the muddy bottom.  Camden didn't like low tide as well and always asked if the beach was "disgusting" or not before deciding if she wanted to go to play on it.

On one "disgusting" excursion, we hadn't worn swimsuits.  Camden's clothes got wet and she does not like to wear wet clothes.  So she stripped down to her panties.

Soon, they were also soaked and stripped as well.  Glad this was a very private beach!

Lighthouse Point Beach

At the point of the island sits the Tybee Island Lighthouse.  You can see it in the back of most pictures below.  More will be posted later this week about our climb up it.  One evening we gathered our beach gear and walked about a mile to the point and enjoyed the place where the River meets the Ocean.

The tide was low and several creatures were on the beach.  This crab was expired, so Kevin turned it over so that Camden could get a good look.
My favorite moment on this outing was shortly after Kevin and Camden enjoyed a deep dip.

I noticed a woman walking along the beach very close to the shore.  She would stop every few minutes.  It didn't take long to figure out why.  Several dolphins had come very close to shore and were interacting with her.  They couldn't be more than 10 feet from the water's edge.

This was the best picture we snapped of dolphins to date.  It's like trying to capture a picture of lightening.  It happens so fast, you can't click quick enough.

Kevin didn't see them right away (I think he was still playing in the sand), but then he sat down on the very edge and tried slapping the water like they do to see if they would come visit him.  No such luck...but we enjoyed our close dolphin encouter regardless.

Sunsets

I don't think anyone gets tired of sunsets over the water.  One of the perks of our location on the River, versus the ocean, was that we actually got to see both sunrises and sunsets over the water.  Sunrises were a bit of a stretch, but were perfect if you walked down to the pier.  Sunsets actually looked toward Savannah and some other islands, but the water was the predominent feature.

Savannah Beach and Raquet Club

We were so pleased with our condo selection.  It was a good price and perfect for us.  In addition to the great balcony views, the main living area had a nice sleeper sofa, dining table & chairs, plus TV and cabinet of games & movies.  It also had a kitchen area off to one side with a full size stove and fridge.  The floor was beautifully tiled, as was the shower in the bathroom.  There were built in bunks in the hall that Camden loved to play in (not sleep...she did that on the couch) and a nice queen bed in the small bedroom.

We obviously also loved all the amenities at the club.  Our pier which walked to the River from our building (on the left) and the pool area (on the right).

We selected a room on the second floor, right in the middle (see Kevin and Camden in her orange swimsuit).  That was perfect for views over the dune (which would have partially blocked the views if on the first floor).

As I've mentioned, we all enjoyed the small deck and the great chairs on it for viewing the sights, plus throwing grapes to the cats (and occasional raccoon).

Finally, there was Camden's favorite locale - the pool!

Balcony Views

We spent lots of early mornings and evenings sitting on our balcony.  It was fun to watch people come up and down the boardwalk to the pier...including Kevin and Camden.

In addition to dolphins, we loved watching all the various ships enter and exit the River.  There were constant cargo ships.

Plus the shrimp boats made their daily excursions.
