First Fruits
Getting this daily...plus lots of onions. By the look of things, this is going to be a bumper crop.

Day Bakery Cookies
It was such a treat (no pun intended) to have Rachel and Destin at the Waveland Farmer's Market on Friday night. We tried several of the cookies, even bought a few for GaGa and Grandpa, as well as a cookie kit. My favorite was the Dirty Chai cookie, but I love the sugar cookies in the kit (with the best.frosting.ever).
Rachel threw in a cookie for Kevin. Camden counted it as her Father's Day gift.
Camden made a cookie (sometimes 2) every day since the market. I was able to simply take a bit of one of Camden's decorated cookies and not eat a whole one, but I found myself getting a finger-full of the frosting frequently when I passed through the kitchen. Serious...some of the best I've ever had!

Waveland Conservation Club
We went for a nice drive around a familiar loop - Waveland, covered bridge, Waveland Conservation Club, Tannenbaum Lake, and Raccoon Lake. It was nice getting out together. Camden especially loved getting down close to the water at the WCC and watching the fish.

Free Milk
Prairie Farms Dairy has been giving away milk to non-profits, daycares, shelters, etc. during COVID. I found out about it and made arrangements for Waveland Strong to get some and hand out at the town shelter. We've done it for the past 3 weeks and have added cheese (from Pace Dairy) and produce (from a produce vendor) that were also made available at the same pick-up location.
Camden has come down and "helped" each week. Well...for a little bit, it's gotten so hot so she has made her way to the Library or GaGa's for most of the time.

Aunt Carole's Birthday
We went to Lafayette again a few days later to celebrate Aunt Carole's birthday. We met at Gramma Pat's house. I made a frittata and some turkey sausages, we grabbed a few Mary Lou donuts, and Gramma had some fruit and cheese.

Swim Visit
A quick trip to Lafayette to enjoy swimming in Aunt Carole and Uncle Ric's pool. Also got to break out her new floatie - a cute corgie - we bought on clearance at the end of last season.

Youth Group Summer Kickoff
Youth Group started back up on Sunday evening. It was a "soak night" so Camden was thrilled she needed to go in her swimsuit.
When I picked her up I was surprised to see the size of the crowd. They were all in the field playing some huge water game. They had already done slip-n-slides and water balloon fights and other wet games. Food was also provided by Wildfire 348 Pizza (we had it a month or so ago). What a summer kick-off party!

Gone Fishin'
Saturday was so gorgeous, the three of us decided it was a perfect day for fishing. We headed to Kevin's friends house (so none of us needed a license). We started out under the only tree that provided shade, but also walked the edge. The blue gill were especially biting and at one edge, we were reeling in fish as quickly as we could cast. We began to call Camden the "fish whisperer" since she was the most successful.

Waveland Farmer's Market
With COVID restrictions being lifted, Waveland Strong decided to go ahead and start our Farmer's Market back up. We invited local food trucks to the event because we were not comfortable starting concessions, especially with extra precautions needed.
One of the trucks was Hoosier Ice Queen that has Hawaiian shaved ice. Camden's first purchase of the evening was a large cone/cup. She said it reminded her of a sunset. It sure was a nice treat in the midst of the hot, but beautiful evening.

Brisket & Papaw
Kevin smoked a delicious brisket on Saturday and we had Papaw over for dinner. Afterward we enjoyed time visiting on the patio.
We also enjoyed that brisket ever since. It lasted 4 days more...and was just as delicious! YUM!

Birthday Parade
After the day at Cataract Falls, we decided we wanted to get pizza from Rockstar Pizza in Brownsburg. Yes it was a bit of a drive but we could cut across I-70 and it wouldn't be horrible. On our way over, I remembered that it was Rachel's birthday (and Lauren's had just passed) and they were in Brownsburg. We decided to swing by and do a birthday parade of one car.
We caught them just as they were leaving the Day's home. I had quickly made a sign for Camden to hold out the truck window and we honked and waved and shouted our wishes as we drove by.
We ran over to curbside pick up our pizza and stop at Mandy's ice cream for snack on the drive home. Guess where the birthday girls (and Destin) had gone?

Cataract Falls
Memorial Day weekend we headed for a drive down to Cataract Falls. While we shouldn't have been, we were surprised that is was pretty crowded. It was a gorgeous day (with some storms in the area, but we avoided) and we enjoyed getting out in nature. We brought our masks along, but were able to social distance just fine. Bonus perk was the computer crashed at the gate house just as we were pulling in, so we got to enjoy the park for free!
We started at the lower falls. You can tell it was sunny because Camden's baby blues couldn't handle the brightness in pictures.
We made our way down to the water's edge and walked/explored along the rocks.
The group in the distance (who we eventually made our way to) was getting into the water, but we stayed with just putting in our feet.
Camden made several attempts at skipping rocks.
We made our way back up to the upper falls. These are much more lively. We were not up for exploring much in this section, but think next time we will head to the short trail that goes behind the falls.
Such a beautiful spot. We get why it's one of GaGa and Grandpa's favorite places.
