We got a nice hotel package at the Brown County Inn where we could simply relax. The inn has seen better days and needs remodeled, but it was clean and had a great facility for families. We had a first floor room with a patio/walkout to the courtyard with a great playground, volleyball court, shuffleboard, mini-golf course, and a great indoor/outdoor pool (inside the big building with the garage doors).
I didn't take lots of pictures throughout the trip, mainly cause I was enjoying just relaxing...plus we didn't do anything that unique or special. It was perfect!
Monday night Gramma Pat and Grampa Jim came over from Columbus since it's just 20-25 minutes down the road. We had dinner in the restaurant at the inn. Kevin got to enjoy a bison ribeye which he had always wanted to try. It rained that evening, so we enjoyed playing board games (YATZEE!) in our room while Camden played with everything she could think of. Every deck of cards was opened, as well as every plastic-wrapped cup in the room. It was a mess, but she had fun!
Both evenings the deer came out of the woods around the inn. It looked like the inn staff put corn out to encourage them, but it was great to get a fairly close up look at them. Kevin and Camden tried to sneak up on a pair one evening.
The small buck heard them first...but then both caught on...
And off they went.
On Tuesday we headed over to the main section of Nashville where there are lots of shops with local artists, treats, and unique objects. Camden loved the toy store. She played the piano, explored the kid-sized kitchen, pushed cars on the floor, hugged stuffed Elmos, and basically touched every toy in the place.
We also sampled fudge, nuts ("menuts" or "benuts" as Camden calls them), and various flavors of popcorn. Camden loved the cheese and dill pickle popcorn the best!
After an afternoon nap for Camden (and shuffleboard for us), we headed back to the village for pizza, then drove through Brown County State Park. Kevin knew it was the largest state park in Indiana, but we were astonished when we explored it a bit. It was huge! We finished our day off back at the hotel with swimming in the pool (only Mommy and Camden, though...Daddy still had stitches in his foot), a round of golf and swinging/sliding at the playground.
Don't the stains on a kid's shirt directly correlate to the greatness of the day?!?
And doesn't a smile say it all (despite the blurriness).
But then so does this! Plum tuckered out from a wonderful day together!
