Pool Party

This heat has been so miserable...but we also hate being stuck inside.  Water is the only solution (at least until there is a ban).  I picked up a very small inflatable pool and we have enjoyed it immensely.  Kevin and I love putting our feet in.  While Camden likes dunking her whole head.

It's perfect because it fits on the sidewalk and won't completely kill the dying grass and leave a big round dead spot.

She even eats her picnic supper in it's coolness.

Eden!

A dear friend and Frinker came back to town for less than 24 hours.  Ashley and her husband, Graham, are both professors at LSU.  We got to know this terrific couple while they finished up grad school at Purdue.  Their oldest daughter, Eden was born about 4 months before Camden and just before they moved away.  I follow her and her younger sister's antics on Ashley's blog.  We enjoyed a quick lunch at Maru Sushi before they had to catch their plane home.

What a wonderful woman, mother, and friend!

Green Thumb

We have had no rain in weeks, maybe even months...The yard looks horrible and the flower bed has bloomed and died twice (normally happens over the course of the summer, not over 3 weeks).  It was time to prune them back, not sure if we will get one more beautiful flowering out of them or not.  Anyway, despite the limited grass growth, the yard (aka weeds) needed mowed and the flowers needed attention.  I took care of the grass, Kevin and his little gardener took care of the flowers.

She did a fantastic, careful job and took care of this purple plant all on her own.

County Fair

After church on Sunday, we headed to Danville for the Hendricks County Fair.  It was opening day and things were just getting set up.  Not all the animals had arrived nor were the rides open until that evening.  However, there was an Extension program for preschoolers that we took part in and we did get to see some animals.

Camden also made her way through a straw maze and made some amazing shots at the HUGE bean bag toss game.

It was blazing hot and we were getting quite miserable.  However, on our way back to the car, a bounce house was set up and we were the first "customer."  Camden came out beet red...and enjoyed an amazing homemade vanilla shake to cool down.

Date Night

For Mommy and Daddy at the Melting Pot.  Camden had a sleepover at GaGa's.

Yummm....CHEESE.

YUMMMMMMMMM...CHOCOLATE!!!  More specifically, flaming turtle fondue.

VBS Closing Program

The older kids and some of the adults had worked on the Ark all week.  The balloons deflated, but Camden loved showing it off to GaGa and Grandpa on our way into the church for the final program.  This Ark will be used in the Parke County parade at the end of the month.

The 2 year olds - 2nd graders opened the program with singing a few songs.

At the end of their portion, they marched through the aisles singing, "Father Abraham."

The older kids joined them on stage and sang a few more.

After the short program, we headed back to the fellowship hall for snacks.  Camden enjoyed showing off her craft projects from the week.

The music teacher and main emcee for the week painted his hair various colors because the kids raised their attendance over the week from 28 to 50.  Camden got a big kick out it and wanted a picture with Mr. Ivan.
